Presentation about CJK Coordination Committee

Dear CJK GP colleagues, CJK GPs will collectively present the status of our coordination to the public audience on Wednesday 21 October in ICANN Dublin meeting. I drafted the slides for that as attached. As far as I know, no substantial coordination outcome has been made regarding the RootLGR per se after Buenos Aires. Instead of that, two letters to ICANN, which were suggested in Buenos Aires meetings, have been mostly drafted by Wang Wei and me. Seeing this situation, my idea becomes that we use this "CJK coordination committee update slot" to pose these letters (= proposals) to the audience and solicit their (preferably positive) feedback - at least explain the existence of the problems to the audience out of CJK. Of course we CJK will discuss about the letters (= proposals) in the meetings on Sunday 18 and Monday 19 October, which is before the presentation about CJK Coordination Committee. Happy to have your comments on the tactics and on the slides themselves. Wang Wei, could you elaborate one slide of the content of your letter? I will do the same for second slide. Regards, Hiro

Yoneya will revise “step3, 1.1.2” and send it to CJK to confirm integration algorithm. ->'review' is introduced as an intermediate status of some kinds of variant labels generated by the algorithm ->done 3. propose comments and questions to ICANN 3.1. Hiro will write something that propose use of LGR as part of the application process. ->under drafting 3.2. Wang Wei will write something of putting attributes to the generated labels possibly using subtypes. ->almost drafted 4. Edmon will draft a statement for consideration for agreement for the LGR being only the part of the application process, which is one of the results of this meeting. ->not yet done : may follow 3.1 and 3.2 5. JGP will try to find some ways to reduce the allocatable labels. ->investigation done 6. CGP will find the way using WLE to ensure that the applied for label can be allocatable even the result of the LGR has it as blocked. ->will be included in the document in 3.2i --

terminology: traditional Chinese chars?

Dear Messrs Wang and Huang: How are you doing? I have a question about the term " traditional chinese chars". 1) In ISO/IEC 10646, there are about 56000 Chinese chars. 2) There are 2235 simplified Chinese chars and 2261 chars corresponding to these 2235 simplified Chinese chars. 3) My questions are: 3-1) By the term "traditional Chinese chars", do you refer to just 2261 chars? Or 56000 - 2235 = 53000+ (roughly) chars? 3-2) I wonder what terms Chinese experts use to distinguish between a) 2261 chars? and b) 56000 - 2235 = 53000+ chars? Thanks in advance.
