Codepoints from Esperanto
The following code points occur in Esperanto, but are not previously included in our Repertoire: | Unicode | Glyph | Unicode Name | | 0109 | ĉ | Latin Small Letter C with Circumflex | | 011D | ĝ | Latin Small Letter G with Circumflex | | 0125 | ĥ | Latin Small Letter H with Circumflex | | 0135 | ĵ | Latin Small Letter J with Circumflex | | 016D | ŭ | Latin Small Letter U with Breve | In addition, we had included | 015D | ŝ | Latin Small Letter S with Circumflex | This in our repertoire, but the only example was from Tswa, which is EGIDS 5 -- which the IP apparently doesn't consider sufficient for inclusion. So we may want to modify the entry to reflect Esperanto there. Bill Jouris Inside Products bill.jouris@insidethestack.com 831-659-8360 925-855-9512 (direct)
Can we justify the inclusion of Esperanto based on the principles or should we included because IP thinks it should be included? Ethnologue https://www.ethnologue.com/language/epo has Esperanto as EGIDS 3. I'm not sure I am convinced that it actually deserves that rating. But that doesn't really matter, since the IP has mandated it's inclusion. Dear GP members, For those people who were not with us from the beginning. Table with languages which we were processing last two years was made like this: 1. In the year 2015 these days GP chair Chris Dillon asked me to make a table with languages using Latin script 2. I took the list of languages using Latin script from omniglot.com 3. I added some columns to that table and filled these columns by hand, using data from www.ethnologue.com<http://www.ethnologue.com> 4. I do not think that anyone has ever checked these table thoroughly. Bill has done some corrections in the beginning. So it is possible that some EGIDS 1-5 languages is missing. But this LGR will not be holy, it will be changed in the future. If something is missing it could be added later. On the other hand, if someone wants to check the table with languages he/she is very welcome. Mirjana, That was an impressive work that you have done. I guess that someone at IP has an interest of Esperanto and therefore saw that it was missing. As you say, in the future characters might be added if someone misses them for some language.
