Yes, I like either of those options - but not the "chair picks" one. As the Chair, I'd rather not pick someone. The original goal of the draft was to avoid voting altogether, since that's a rat hole too, as we have various organizations of unequal size. On the first draft, we had passed "no consensus" situations to the Nominating Committee for resolution, but I seem to recall that ICANN rejected that option for some reason. If it's a decision between "chair picks" and "voting," however, I'd go with voting. Are there any options we hadn't considered?
How about... a conventional vote is taken, but the Chair casts an extra vote in case of a tie. Alternately, the chair doesn't vote _unless_ there's a tie. - Evan _______________________________________________ NA-Discuss mailing list NA-Discuss@atlarge-lists.icann.org http://atlarge-lists.icann.org/mailman/listinfo/na-discuss_atlarge-lists.ica... --- Draft MoU with ICANN: http://www.icannwiki.org/NA_RALO_MOU Draft Operating Principles: http://www.icannwiki.org/NA_RALO_OP
