Support for the current chair - last day of NPOC's election: 4th of July

Dear members of NPOC, I would like to give all the support possible to our current chair, who's done a sterling job over the past year. As far as I can see, with Joan's lead, we have accomplished a lot more than I even dared to hope this time last year. On top of cracking on with the arduous process of our charter review, we've gained back the control of our domain name and built a new website engaging our members, as well as giving an introductory place for people outside our constituency. Not only have we worked on these necessary fundamentals of a functioning ICANN constituency, but everyone that I've talked to, who has looked at NPOC during this past year have been very upbeat and excited that NPOC is finally starting to do, what it should have been doing all this time. That includes developing policy statements of the DNS from the perspective of NPOC, that is still very much lacking to this date. Joan has been absolutely crucial in saving our constituency from almost certain destruction and rebuilding its reputation from the embarrassing show it was and I think there could've been no one else doing this work with the diplomacy, experience and persistence that she has shown in getting NPOC back on track. To give you some concrete idea of the success we've had in the past year, we've increased our membership base by ~15% and have almost doubled the amount of voters since the previous election (23 -> 43). These figures mean, that our constituency has attracted a lot of new interest from people curious of NPOC, both old and new. I am very excited about this upward trajectory that we're now on and very much intend in keeping us on it, for the foreseeable future. ...and this is what we're now facing. I implore you, PLEASE consider the mountain of work that Joan has got through this year, the results she's got to show for it, and compare it with the other chair-candidate that seems to be simply yearning for another title, without doing the actual work that goes with it. The elections are by no means over and know that you can even change your vote by simply voting again. I am entirely convinced that Joan's work should be recognised by giving her another year to finish her job of saving our constituency. Raoul Plommer Vice Chair of NPOC

Visa problem

Hi Everyone, NPOC choice for LAC Leader representative denied entrance to Panama due to visa problem. I was told that ICANN would assist him with the visa upon arrival in Panama. Candidate statement.

I nominated for the policy committee position because I was asked to run by a few people, and because I believe I have significant experience at ICANN policy work. I have seen NPOCs interest in policy work gradually increase, and I would like to see it become a strongly contributing part of NCSG and the GNSO. I have extensive experience in ICANN policy work. I have been an NCSG GNSO councillor for 4 years, 2 of them as a Vice-Chair. I have been part of the leadership team as one of the vice-chairs of the RDS working group. I served as part of the GNSO-GAC group, working to smooth the GACs role in GNSO working groups. And I’ve held other ICANN leadership roles, and been involved in many other workings group, such as the PPSAI. My plan for policy committee is to introduce more active tracking of policy work that needs doing through use of Trello and other online tools, and work towards both getting a clearer idea of NPOCs specific policy positions when it has them, and closer collaboration with all of NCSG when Piru positions converge. Hello Everyone, Dear NPOC members, please find my position statement below. I am asking for your vote as Chair for NPOC •*Name*: Joan Kerr *•Affiliation*: Foundation for Building Sustainable Communities (FBSC) •*Position applied for*: Chair •*Why you are running for the position?:* I believe that NPOC is at a significant point in its history, with much attention and time given to develop its foundation as an organization. That work is almost completed and I would ask for your vote to continue with the work. As the current Chair, I am proud to lead the Executive on a consultative basis, ensuring that the decisions were reflective of everyone's input and garnering agreement through consensus. This approach has lead to an NPOC team, that has collaborated and strategize to accomplish the numerous tasks that initiated, including: a rebranding initiative to create a new logo that involved the membership, clearly defining the meaning and issues of operational concerns, create marketing materials, including a Beginner's Guide to NPOC, a collaborative project with the Onboarding Program, updating the Charter, developing on a new website. All this while Executive members work on the conference calls, working groups, policy development process and attending ICANN meetings NPOC has also collaborated with NCUC on a number of events, and will continue to work together to strengthen the NCSG and joint develop policy comments. *At present, NPOC's weakest link is policy development. This will be my primary focus for the coming year.* And there is more to be done.
