It must be managed by a multistakeholder system,” said Prasad. “Not only do we support multistakeholderism, but also we encourage multistakeholderism itself to embrace all geographies and all societies. We will partner with you all to make this a reality. We must work toward this new form of digital democracy.” On March 14, 2014, the United States Government announced its intent to transition its stewardship of the IANA functions to the global multistakeholder community. Minister Prasad’s statement of support marks not only an important milestone for the transition, but also speaks to the continued success of the multistakeholder model. “Today, with India joining this group of countries that openly support the multistakeholder model of Internet governance, we increase our ranks significantly, said ICANN President and CEO Fadi Chehadé. “The decision that was made by India is a significant decision.” Also during the opening ceremony, NIC.AR Director Gabriel Brenta discussed how NIC.AR incorporated the multistakeholder model into their business operations, stating, “Some years ago, we decided to make NIC.AR to go through a change. And that change was in line with the developments that were taking place all over the world. What our administration was doing in terms of domain names, we wanted to reflect all those changes, all those improvements, all those developments in what we believe has been our duty since then.” ICANN also announced the winners of the 2015 Multistakeholder Ethos award - community leader Cheryl Langdon Orr and Africa Internet pioneer Nii Quaynor. The award is given to members of global Internet community who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to the multistakeholder model. More than 1,400 members of the global Internet community will meet over the course of the week, both in-person and remotely, to discuss and debate the future of ICANN and Internet governance. The meeting’s 300+ sessions are a continuation of the community’s dedication to a global, secure, stable and resilient Internet, and their hard work in ensuring the success of the IANA stewardship transition. “People have put enormous effort to make this multistakeholder effort go, and thank you. Candidate Statement

Dear NPOC members, It is my honor to accept the nomination for Secretariat of NPOC and ask for your vote. Let me tell you about myself. I am a Lawyer in Argentina, working at my hometown university, Universidad Torquato Di Tella, and doing several projects and research with different NGO’s. One of the is AGEIA DENSI, who I represent in NPOC. With AGEIA DENSI my work is mainly research on Internet Governance critical resources like the DNS and multistake-holderism. As a lawyer I also do private consulting on my own family law-firm (mainly real-estate related clients). I’ve been working in the Internet Ecosystem issues, specially from the regulatory side and civil rights concerns, for the last years. And inside ICANN for the last two. I started in ICANN as a Fellow, the Fellowship is a program that aims to give people from developing countries, that have an appropriate profile, the opportunity to get to know ICANN from the inside. In my case I started to engage with NPOC from my first ICANN meeting. By then I was already engaged as a user in the NCUC and the NCSG. This last year, I’v been the NPOC Secretariat in a very special moment of NPOC, where the new Master Plan was prepared and lunched with an amazing success and support from all across ICANN and even outside of it. We managed to co-create a strategy for Non-for-profit and Civil Society engagement that NPOC needed to fulfill it’s multi-stakeholder duty of debating and creating DNS policy. ICANN is one of the few milestones of Internet, and the worlds economy and human rights depend on it. The role of NPOC is crucial for this mission, and the role of the Secretariat of NPOC is therefore very sensitive. It is with this in mind that I work and ask for your vote. We still have a lot of work to do, and I will work to achieve the NPOC and ICANN mission wether it is inside the ExCom or as a regular member. As Secretariat I think I can still continue to help and develop further the plans we have created and the success representation of the non-fo-profit operational concerns. Hello, Please find my acceptance of the Membership nomination My name is Joan Kerr and I am pleased to accept the nomination for the position of the NPOC Membership Chair. In the following paragraphs, I am providing information regarding my experience in both my professional, community and ICANN life for your review. I am a social entrepreneur, starting my first business at 17 years old and have continued on with various ventures. Because of this, I have developed a strong passion for initating and implementing projects which has strengthened my project management, community development and facilitation skills . As a philanthropist and humanitarian I have over 25 years as a community engagement innovator and implementer. Through my experience on various boards and committees and ad hoc sub-committees, have led to me drive program design and community partnerships and that create awareness, enablement and collaboration. I am happy to announce that I am the recipient of our Region's Community Partnership Award, the WSIS winner of the Civil Society Award-a collaborative project of Canada, USA and Peru. *ICANN & the Internet Experience* The Foundation for Building Sustainable Communities (FBSC), for which I am a Director, is an ALS and is represented by Glenn McKnight since 2009. Since 2012, I have attended many conferences hosted by ICANN to learn and network before becoming involved directly. From that experience and networking, I found that NPOC kindled my passion and that I was happy to utilize my skills to further the work initiated by both the current and past Committee Members. Since becoming the Membership Chair, I have worked with the NPOC Chair, Committee and Staff to verify our current membership list, created the brochure, attend all meetings by online and in person. Membership requires interaction and communication with our members, and while as Chair I will work others to build a solid base to encourage participation in NPOC as a constituency, I want to encourage each of you to assist in the growth and relevance of NPOC. It is YOU our members who will make the Committee relevant and vital. Together, we can make NPOC the educational, engagement and inclusive organization it can be.
