Emmanuel Ogu As you are aware, Non-for-Profit Operational Concerns Constituency (NPOC), is the home for not-for-profits which have a domain name and want to participate in the making of policy that influences the current internet infrastructure. As the Membership Committee Chair, I am happy to provide any necessary help for our new and old members to become fully engaged within our Constituency and our Stakeholder Group to facilitate the onboarding process into our community - and you will find many members willing to do the same! To better understand how to do that, you need to first understand ICANN´s complex structure. As you already know from the application process, NPOC is part of the Non-Commercial Stakeholder Group (NCSG), which means that we represent the non-commercial interests of the internet community. Specifically, those of non-for-profits. We believe that non-for-profits have to play a central role in creating, discussing, and reviewing top-level domain names policy and so have outlined some key steps you can take to familiarize yourself with the process and get involved: 1. Understand what a domain name is: Learn more about the domain name system (DNS) and the problems, challenges, and opportunities they bring to the operation of organizations like yours. (Suggestion: read the Beginners Guides <https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/beginners-guides-2012-03-06-en>) 2. Read the NPOC toolkit: Learn more about NPOC’s work within ICANN, the NPOC structure, current working groups, the role of the NPOC Executive Committee (ExCom), including a glossary of acronyms, which we know can be very tricky! (Suggestion: read NPOC Beginners Guide <https://www.npoc.org/about/what-is-npoc/beginners-guide-to-npoc/>) 3. Learn about the policy-making process: Understand how to help create and review policy, via the online working groups, public comments and open discussions; or at the ICANN Meetings that take place three times every year (Suggestion: Watch Policy Development Process Video <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPS_0Ut2FRk&list=PLQziMT9GXafXm-5MHQ5YIcRNy…> ] 4. Introducing the ICANN for Beginners Virtual Program

Dear Members, Today, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announces a new initiative to introduce newcomers to ICANN and to the important role it plays in the Internet ecosystem. The ICANN for Beginners Virtual Program comprises a series of interactive webinars held via Zoom and will provide participants an overview of the global Internet ecosystem. The program will also guide newcomers on how they can join the global community and help shape Internet governance. Tailored to those new to ICANN and held fully virtually, each of the one-hour webinars will focus on a specific topic of interest. The webinars will be moderated by experienced ICANN staff members with the goal to strengthen the knowledge about and foster participation at ICANN. The newcomers will come away with a better understanding of how the Internet works and the importance of keeping the Internet open, free, and safe for all. Participation in the program's webinars will complement ICANN's other newcomer programs, such as the Fellowship Program and NextGen@ICANN Program. TIOF - Platform proposal for NPOC

Dear all, Following today's call please find the following summary of what was discussed on Point 1 concerning the possible adoption by NPOC of some platforms: Proposal Following the conversation we had during the NPOC EC Meeting of 10th October 2022, it would appear that we have 2 scenarios to consider: Note: Privacy considerations are taken for granted across this text. The platforms hereby discussed at at least GDPR compliant. Note 2: An assumption is made that NPOC scheduling its own SocMed posts does not enter in conflict with existing ICANN policies. Please let me know if that is not the case. Note 3: Please find the description of the platforms at the end of the text. A) Already existing members of NPOC This scenario considers how to better engage with the existing member base. It would appear that NCSG has a CRM that only its EC has access to. Potentially usable software - *Matomo*: Obtain understanding on the use of NPOC's website - *VBout*: SocMed automation - *Hexowatch*: Monitor changes on relevant websites (I understand none of this enters in conflict with ICANN's policies and procedures) *Questions:* Are the existing listservers able to provide templating and more visually compelling emails? B) New members that NPOC would like to bring in This scenario considers how to engage with new organizations/individuals to expand the existing member base. Potentially usable software - *Corteza*: Keep a database of prospect organizations & individuals for NPOC (essentially Leads) - Once joined NPOC it seems that the way to go would be to delete the Lead from this CRM and use NCGS's and ICANN's listservers - *Matomo*: Obtain understanding on the use of NPOC's website - *VBout*: Both EDM & SocMed automation - *Hexowatch*: Monitor changes on relevant websites (I understand none of this enters in conflict with ICANN's policies and procedures) Proposed Platforms *CRM* *Corteza* https://cortezaproject.org/ On premise (VPS): Yes Cost: USD 0 - By itself Usage (simplified): Database of Contacts, grouped by Accounts. Time to deploy: Unknown - I have no actual experience with it Time to configure: Will vary as decided scenario Learning curve: Requires some decent knowledge on EDM. I wouldn't know how to evaluate the interface as I am not familiar with the product. *URL monitoring* *Hexowatch* https://hexowatch.com/ On premise (VPS): No Cost: USD 0 - TIOF has a license we can use Usage (simplified): Monitoring (several styles) of relevant URLs and automatic notification to the corresponding parties. Collects personal data: No Time to deploy: 0 days Time to configure: About 15 minutes per URL Learning curve: Doesn't require much other than taking action upon the notifications of something having changed.
