ITU CWG-WSIS&SDG Call for Inputs on the WSIS+20 Review Responses

Hello WSIS+20 Outreach Network, We would like to inform you that the ITU’s Council Working Group (CWG) on WSIS and SDG has published some of the responses received for its Call for Inputs on the WSIS+20 Review. ITU CWG on WSIS and SDG had extended the deadline to provide input to 14 March 2025, so there is still opportunity to submit your input, if you are eligible and wish to do so. Best, Carlos Reyes Dear all, The European Commission and the 2025 Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU are organizing a “Global Multistakeholder High Level Conference on Governance of Web 4.0 and Virtual Worlds<https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/policies/event-web-4-governance>” on March 31-April 1, 2025, in Brussels and online. This conference “aims at triggering a global discussion on the principles for the global governance of Web 4.0 and virtual worlds feeding into the World Summit on the Information Society 20 years review (WSIS+20)”. ICANN President and CEO, Kurtis Lindqvist, will be participating in the event and speaking in the High-Level Panel. The Commission has announced that during each parallel session, individuals and organizations can deliver 2-minute statements on covered topics to highlight key areas of agreement or disagreement. FOC Advisory Network Proactive Advice on WSIS+20

Hi all, I’m bringing your attention to this proactive advice<https://freedomonlinecoalition.com/foc-advisory-network-proactive-advice-ws…> regarding the WSIS+20 review issued by the Advisory Network of the Freedom Online Coalition. It aligns with many of the ideas shared on this mailing list about renewing the IGF mandate and aligning the GDC implementation as part of the WSIS ecosystem. The advice also advocates for the multistakeholder model, although it didn’t explicitly mention the NM+10 outcomes as a reference. There’s another item that we shouldn’t ignore. This advice also calls for reinforcing digital inclusion as a WSIS priority, given that “digital inequality persists.” Keeping this argument in mind will be essential to making WSIS+20 a process focused on bolstering the WSIS Action Lines to advance digital progress (and align the GDC under this ecosystem) rather than a referendum on the consensus about the multistakeholder approach for Internet Governance.
