Hi Jorge Ok so if the issue isn’t that you want to focus on non-IG topics but rather that someone in the larger public (unclear who, based on what) doesn’t understand the scope of IG issues, wouldn’t it be better to simply explain the scope of IG issues, rather than change the name to something that probably is no more clearly bounded in their minds? Maybe the IGF could have a simple page on its site saying what IG (and governance more generally) means? Hi to all Sharing my take on the elements paper. Looking forward to hearing more from others both in person at IGF in Norway and online. * The upfront/intro section is decent in terms of laying out the current environment, the processes so far and includes fulsome multistakeholder references. This chapeau context is important to keep in mind as you review each of the subsequent 15 sections. * The general structure of the first half of the issues listed (the first 7) is that each section seems to have a clear structure of: here is the issue, recognition of improvements and identifications of challenges since WSIS, and then closes with a specific feedback question. * Nice call out to ICANN and the work on IDNs in para 33, under bridging the digital divide. * This structural approach differs in the second half of the elements paper (the remaining 8 sections) starting with the human rights section, so this includes the Internet governance section. In this second half, the approach taken does not clearly describe the progress since WSIS per topic, but it does indicate proposals will be coming and then describes at some level the scope of proposals. This can come across a bit more prescriptive. Unclear why or if this is indicative of anything. [Join us] Informal gathering about the WSIS+20 elements paper

Hi all, Yesterday, we had a good initial discussion about the WSIS+20 Elements Paper during our networking session (the recording is available here<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLMFKs9J6CY>). To keep the conversation going, we’ll host an informal gathering tomorrow (Wednesday, 25 June) from 17:30-18:30 at Workshop Room 1. This will be an opportunity to go through the document and review the ideas presented by the co-facilitators, and to discuss some ideas for the written consultation. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to use the remote participation tools, so this will be an in-person gathering only, taking advantage of the space available at the IGF venue, but we’ll share a summary of the discussion. We understand different groups have had some conversations about the document, and many have already started thinking about how to frame our written contributions. But we also recognize that, as the document just got released last Friday, we (the IGF stakeholders) would benefit from an open conversation about it. WSIS+20 and the Imperative of Inclusive Digital Futures: Grounding the Past, Framing the Beyond Dear Esteemed Colleagues, As we approach the WSIS+20 Forum High-Level Event, it is an opportune moment to reflect not only on the journey we have collectively shaped since 2003, but also on the strategic contours of what lies ahead in an increasingly complex digital ecosystem. The original WSIS vision was anchored in bridging the digital divide and establishing a people-centered, inclusive Information Society. While progress has been notable in infrastructure expansion, policy frameworks, and multistakeholder engagement, the next phase demands a deeper recalibration — one that goes beyond access and affordability, toward resilience, rights, and responsible innovation. In the spirit of the Geneva and Tunis commitments, I believe WSIS+20 must advance: A community-rooted digital inclusion agenda, particularly for underrepresented geographies and grassroots stakeholders; Stronger policy coherence between digital transformation, human rights, and environmental sustainability; Enhanced multistakeholder mechanisms that are accountable, distributed, and trust-enabling, especially in the governance of emerging technologies. As a panelist at the July 11 session, I look forward to contributing to these conversations, not just as reflections of the past, but as constructive frameworks for the future. Our collective challenge is not only to reaffirm WSIS principles, but to ensure their relevance amidst AI acceleration, data governance dilemmas, and geopolitical shifts in the digital order. Dear colleagues and friends, Like many of you, the RIPE NCC team is heading to the 2025 Internet Governance Forum (IGF) next week, which will take place in Lillestrøm, Norway, from June 23 to 27. This IGF is particularly significant, taking place ahead of the twenty-year review of the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS+20).
