Hi everyone! At ICANN64 in a public meeting, a woman mentioned her experiences facing gender bias when it comes to her suggestions being heard and accepted in working groups. She voiced her wish for a gender bias study to be undertaken in the ICANN environment. Following that, it made me think that it would be useful to undertake such a study and I would love for anyone interested to get in touch with me about this. To discuss how exactly the methodology for such would work or any input whatsoever would be very welcome. Best, Akriti

Hi, I saw the email with a call for gender bias studies in the DNS sector. I don't know of any studies that fit those criteria perfectly, but this work by Moran and Bui might be of interest: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0308596118301952 It looks at the obstacles faced by marginalized communities of colour when attempting to intervene in telecommunications discussions, including those related to ICANN. There is also _a lot_ of great work on exclusion, bias and sexism in technical spaces like hackathons and gaming, which might be interesting to consider? Final HRIA report + Leadership change

Dear colleagues, I am very pleased to share with you the final report on “Designing a Human Rights Impact Assessment for ICANN’s Policy Development Process," co-authored by myself, Akriti Bopanna, and Austin Ruckstuhl: https://icannhumanrights.net/designing-an-hria-for-icann-pdps/ <https://icannhumanrights.net/designing-an-hria-for-icann-pdps/> This report outlines an iterative research-and-design process carried out between November 2017 and July 2019, focusing on successes and lessons learned in anticipation of the Board’s long-awaited approval of the Work Stream 2 recommendations. [1] The process, findings, and recommendations will be explored in greater detail during the CWP-HR’s joint session with the GAC in Montreal next month (timing TBC). It is with regret that I inform you of my decision to step down as CCWP-HR Co-Chair, effective immediately. Please accept my gratitude for the insights and support provided over the past two years. It has been a pleasure leading this group and I am proud of what we accomplished together. I have no doubt that these successes will continue, and I thank Akriti for her collaboration and willingness to continue as sole chair.
