Dear Councillors, Attached is a soft copy of the draft text I handed out yesterday. It is my intention to make this statement at the open session later today. As noted yesterday, if you have any suggestions, please advise my noon today. All the best, Byron
I like the structure and tone, but wonder if 6) could be worded a little more assertively, and that some of the other asides might be worth capturing also. I have worked a rough redraft attached, and wonder if this might be smoothed for style and language and incorporated into the statement. Cheers Keith On 27/03/2014 1:30 p.m., Byron Holland wrote:

Is "public accountability" different from "accountability" generally? I think they should be generally accountable as well as accountable specifically to those harmed Becky Burr Sent from my iPad.

Hi, I am a bit concerned about deviating too much from the text we presented to the ccNSO yesterday. Particularly, I do not recall us having discussed a 'competitive root within a privatised and competitive DNS' nor the danger of 'fracturing due to rushing to solutions'/'ICANN not having to provide absolute answers'. I'm also puzzled by 'competitive root within a privatised and competitive DNS", which reminds me of "alternative root" and ICANN's ICP. OK, if its not clear to us, then its going to dilute the message we give to them, so lets delete it... I am paying the price for not having participated and understanding the rest of the drafting teams words - so lets revert to the initially circulated text. I support the draft in general. Just one point from me : The top sentence of the 2nd paragraph says "We view this transition is the next logical step toward a truly global Internet." I am not sure about the word 'logical' here. I think this step can be considered to be physical as well as logical depending on the eye view toward this step.
