I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign wants increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. By increasing internet usage pricing, you will lose many valued .com customers. I will be one of them. There are many ways to use technology in this fast-changing world. By increasing pricing for the small business owners who depend on their .coms to earn a living, you are taking advantage of the honest & hard-working people who have relied (some solely) on the internet for their businesses. Like I stated, increasing pricing will deter those who have used .com domains from utilizing their websites, and we will find other inexpensive ways to create successful online businesses. I am self employed and an author and teacher. I have multiple domains to maintain. I work in the field of human services for children and adults with disabilities and autism. I make very little salary, but am happy to serve. However, when price gouging happens and affects so many people, and when it is done without stakeholder input or even notification, I must protest. Raising rates incrementally at a reasonable amount is logical. Greed is not. I think the internet is only as free and public as it is affordable to maintain a presence on. I don't know what rationale there is to allowing .com domains to increase in price drastically. It seems like this will allow domain bullies and trolls further power to leverage squatting into financial gain, and will pollute the .com TLD.

To whom it may concern: I’m an author, and my website is the only business card that matters. I must have a website to communicate with readers, provide basic information to reviewers, and remain contactable no matter what is happening with social media sites. And for my website to be found, I need to have a .COM address with my name in it. My publisher does not provide one for me. I have to maintain that for myself. However, as an author, I make practically no money! I get my domain from a wholesaler and I absolutely cannot afford massive increases in my .COM domain price. Please consider me and other artists and authors like me, who trust you to help us share our art with the world, and keep .COM wholesale domain prices affordable. Thank you for your time, R. E. Domain Administrator: I would like to state my emphatic disapproval to this current effort of changing the contract you presently have with Verisign. I think your proposal is too extreme and without reasonable check and balances. There is inadequate funding oversight, and there has been no open and transparent discussion with the millions/billions of impacted stakeholders - individuals like myself, the actual users of the internet and website hosts.
