I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry �C it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. To whom it may concern, I am opposed to the proposal to increase .COM fees 7% / yr for 4 years. The fact that this change was quickly and quietly proposed rather than coming forward with figures demonstrating a pressing need suggests this is just a money grab. If you need to tie it to inflation, fine. If you really need extra $$ prove it. Otherwise carry on as before. Hello, I own several .COM domains as a small business owner, some of which are also for personal use and are not monetized in any way. I am strongly opposed to the price increase concerning all .COM domains. This is highly unjustifiable and not in the interest of all of us who own domains as part of a small business or as a personal hobby. The current of $7.85 is already far more than justified and already steep enough – a price increase will only be in the interest of Verisign, rather than in the best interest of the public and all domain registrants. In case you at ICANN have not noticed, the middle class is struggling in the U.S. while the cash continues flowing to the few. This situation is particularly dire on our young people who are facing the mentality of ever increasing costs on virtually every commodity, including massive school loans. Furthermore, to save the planet that we are actively destroying, we need ideas from all perspectives, not just from those that benefit every time that more resources are extracted. The Internet is the greatest seat at the table that we can keep open for those enterprising enough to have impactful and constructive ideas. Your job is to regulate the domains, not to find excuses to tax them in the name of regulation. This may help your bottom line, power and prestige in the short run but it will also handicap the flow of ideas, which is far more valuable than any service your executives can construct to justify higher rates. Please do not start down the road of allowing greed to overrule reason. *DO NOT go forward with this amendment. You DO NOT have my support for this change. As a small business owner and owner of several .COM domains, I oppose the proposed Amendment 3 to the .COM registry. While the fee increases are limited to 7% per year, it appears that no justification is required for the increases up to the 7% limit. Therefore it seems that Verisign, as a for profit company, may seek to increase prices solely for profitability and not for reasons related to the security and stability of the domain name service. I request that further limits be placed on fee increases such that justification is required to show that the increases are related to the security, stability and performance of the .COM TLD. The proposed amendment feels like you are trying to cash in on a monopoly in the industry. What you are doing is not right and will be detrimental to the industry you rely on.
