Dear Sir/Madam, This is with reference to the proposed amendment 3 to the .com registry wherein ICANN is unilaterally allowing Verizon to increase the .com domain prices. This is an arbitrary decision and an anti-competitive one. It does not bode well for the internet at-large. I am writing this email to protest against the said amendment and it should be outrightly quashed. ICANN must desist from giving such rights to the TLD holder wherein monopolistic practices can lead to making it difficult for startups and public to avail a .com domain at reasonable price, especially those in developing countries. Hello there, I just wanted to take a moment, after learning about these possible upcoming changes to make a few points: For a company who is supposed to maintain fairness regarding the price points of all domains on the internet, It seems unethical to favor one specific company, not to mention take what seems to obviously be a bribe. The internet is already dealing with numerous large scale changes, and does not need additional undesired changes like rocking the boat even more. At a time where wealth inequality is extreme, climate crisis is happening, healthcare needs to be totally reformed, and human kind is on the verge of evolutionary advancement, accessibility to the internet is VITAL. We can not make revolutionary changes with the exclusion of masses of potential due to financial constraint. The amendment proposed will clearly increase prices for individuals looking for an online platform and the potential of humanity is undoubtedly linked to the global connections, information sharing, and opportunity the internet provides. That should not and can not be limited by monetary gain/greed of a few. More is at stake here than money; surely, it is time to expand your vision and your purpose. Reject the amendment. Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, Operating a private webpage is already costly enough but those few private webpages that are still out there show a significantly higher degree of creativity and new viewpoints that might go missing on the common content sharing portals like facebook or stack overflow. Did you ever try to execute custom javascript on your facebook page?! This amendment will further limit what personal internet users can do and isolate them only to be able to communicate via the webpages of the big players. This will impact the availability of access for people to have their businesses online, and limit information. This is a censorship measure that goes against all internet story, and against people's freedom. When, many years ago, I opted for a .com domain, it was because that was among the cheapest alternatives. While understanding that prices must rise, I do not think it is proper to vary the relationship between the prices of different domains. .com should retain its place at the cheaper end of the spectrum in fairness to long-established users.
