I oppose this agreement on the grounds that Verisign is the sole 'authority' of the .com TLD. Being able to raise prices arbitrarily, without due cause and without increased competition, would not be justifiable for consumers. Furthermore, Verisign would have undeniable conflict of interests in being able to directly sell .com domains while being the sole 'authority' of said TLD. Thank you, Daniel Koh -

Hi, I wanted to raise concern about the changes to the .com contract, lifting limits on prices for domain names. I do not think your decision is in the interest of the internet community, or businesses operating websites with a .com address. Please consider that while the price increase might not make a huge difference to entities in developed countries, it might severely affect the ability of individuals and SMBs in poorer countries to create websites aimed at a global audience. Such a situation would clearly be in the interest of neither diversity nor democracy, and could only cause larger divides in the global community. Further, with the reduction of hosting cost over the last decades, I do not see how you can justify increasing prices for such a fundamental, international internet service. Hi, As a small business owner, I have a couple of .com sites which I have registered & currently operate. As regards the rule change, I think the normal rules of business should apply: - What I am getting and what does it cost? - If I don't like it, I can walk away/refuse to support the initiative The fact the .com domain operation is a currently a monopoly should mean that the caretakers (ICANN) should take even greater care to ensure that that its constituents (registrars or better, the actual .com website owners) are supporting its initiatives. Failing to do this other areas of life/business normally end up with the monopoly being broken up. So, with the information I am aware of, I am not happy to support measures ultimately resulting in higher re-occurring domain registry costs. Best regards, Robert Alfonsi

Dear ICANN, I am a registrant of many .com domain names and I am totally against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. Verisign is a greedy evil. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. Edy Budiman Indonesia

Dear Sirs, It's with great regret that I read about the ICANN intention of raising rates for the dot com domains. And moreso without consulting users prior to drafting such amendment. Some news have surfaced indicating that ICANN would cash some $20m in the process. For what purpose? How is this going to benefit end users like myself, a small business owner?
