Why the lack of consultation. ? Who is pocketing this $20 million US? As a very small business we have to watch our costs with a microscope. Our .COM domain costs are an important part of our budget. After years of being gauged by other "registrars" we found Namecheps and thought we had found a good business partner. Now we hear that Verisign has bough (bribed) the right to register domains in competition with its clients like Namecheap. This proposed amendment is immoral and probably illegal. Please do not add this to ICANN's "constitution" or whatever governing document this amendment is amending. Please do the right thing. Hello, I would like to voice my opposition to Proposed Amendment 3. I believe that the global DNS registration system should be run primarily as a public concern. The only entities that stand to benefit from the proposed arrangement are verisign itself, at the expense of the public. These price hikes will impact the millions of small, independent businesses and developers that rely on the system as is to make their livelihood. Further, this could prove yet another point of pressure that convinces a small business to make their online presence exclusively in the Facebook walled garden and eschew the web itself. The web, and global DNS, were envisioned to be run for the public good, and they SHOULD be run for the public good. Deals such as this are an abdication of that mandate; short sighted profit chasing at the expense of all else. As a small business we are already getting squeezed out by the things Amazon is doing, now I'm afraid having our domain name prices being raised will be the icing on the cake, forcing us and other small business's to close and shut our doors. I was just reminded of all of those futuristic sci-fi movies where the internet is controlled by all of the big corporations and the government. Thank you for your time. I am writing to express my opposition to Proposed Amendment 3. The global DNS registration system should be treated as a public utility. Price increases will disproportionately affect registrants: large businesses will be largely unaffected, but individuals and small businesses will bear a larger burden, possibly feeling pressure to forgo their registrations. This would further concentrate .COM registrations to larger companies, starting a dangerous cycle. There seems to be public benefit to this proposal and no basis, other than financial benefits for Versign. Please do not adopt this proposal. Sincerely, Christian Sepulveda
