I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. The claim is that money will be spent on enhancing the technology available, that I understand, but isn’t the money coming now enough for doing whatever enhancements and upgrades. Yes I’m sure the big companies won’t mind a price increase, but for the average guy or small business, whom you should be supporting and thinking of first, this is a deal breaker. People and small businesses do take these small fees into consideration when planning an online venture. Don’t be greedy and keep the web more accessible to the masses rather than working to make it less accessible. Thanks

It is unacceptable for ICANN to sign contracts with Verisign behind closed doors that affect Internet/.COM domain users. It is not in the best interest of the public when decisions are made in private that affect the general public. I humbly request that the vera sign contract details be made public. Also, if ICANN Can provide additional details about the extra $20 million that Verisign will give to ICANN in terms of the purpose of the extra funds and how it will be used by ICANN to improve the infrastructure. These price increases that are planned with out a democratic audience seem a bit out of place in today’s society. It also seems like greed and arrogance are in the way. This isn’t supply and demand, this is 2 business being assholes because they can. Domains should be for all to weigh in on. It isn’t ICANN or Verisign’s invention that was copyrighted and trademarked to sell, no it’s a digital means that the entire population has buy in on. The domains need better structure and support, leading the rest of the World Wide Web into a great cyber future. Regulating prices and how they are governed is a far better solution that will advantageously impact the Internet for years to come. Greetings, I run a small web design and hosting business in Killeen Texas, USA and am concerned about potential price increase for .COM. Web design and hosting has become such a low margin activity in this day and age even slight increases puts at risk the clients desire to outsource or keep in house to keep costs low. Small incremental increases to keep up with costs is one thing but the information I have read appears that you can charge up to 70% higher in under 10 years seems astronomical. I request that you work with the internet users, not just those who can enrich themselves, and be very transparent.
