As a small business owner I would like to voice my concern at the proposed changes to the contract it has with Verisign, Inc. who operate the .COM top-level-domain (TLD). Website running costs are already a large portion of my business and to have these changes forced on us could have a significant impact on my business I find it alarming that this proposal has been conducted behind closed doors without consulting or incorporating feedback from the ICANN community or Internet users. I believe that the internet is for everyone. And that it is necessary now. It’s almost a commodity. If a lot of people cannot afford education, they only find the internet as the cheapest accessible place. What would happen if that is taken away too? A lot of websites wouldn’t be able to sustain their content and in the end, shut down. I hope you consider this. I’m not happy about the price increases. I will may the number of domain names that I keep if the price increases beyond current levels. Would like more transparency into what the money is used for.
