Verisign paying ICANN $20MM, without any clarity about how ICANN will spend the money, or who will ensure that the funds are properly spent on domain infrastructure, is simply a poorly veiled attempt to increase its profits at the expense of thousands of owners of .COM domain names -- quite simply it's the classic case of abusing monopoly power. Hello, I am also against this proposal and increase in .COM domain name pricing. My clients are mainly small business owners and currently don't see a justification in the increase of the domain pricing in the next 10 years. Most business owners I worked with have shared with me their thoughts on the many expenses required just to keep their website or application platform running. Having an increase to the .COM domain name will just increase their burden and will not help in the long run. If cost becomes too prohibitive for some small businesses, they may just forego having their own website and online presence which is a shame. I‘m operating a a dozen .com domains for myself and clients. I consider annual subscriptions of USD 5.- to 15.- as reasonable. Where .com, .org., .net, .biz should linger at 8.- to 12.- a year. I am opposed to the increase in price of particular domains. If ICANN needs more founding, burden should be distributed over all domains - if? In order to have a url, common sense dictates that you purchase the same url in all the categories - .com, .org,.net and ones with similar spelling. So it is easy for one website - commercial, charitable, educational - to have to have pay for 5 urls a year. Quite a Budget for SMB, SoHo or NonGov. Best Regards Carl Christian ................ Hello: I am a registrant of several .com domain names and I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. The reasons for allowing Verisign to increase .com domain wholesale prices will have major impact on the internet and us. I don't see why is it needed, what is the reason behind this? Such decisions shouldn't be made without any concern for the users.

I do not agree with these incremental price increases. There is no technical reason the price needs to increase like this except greediness. All this will do is further other DNS systems. Once one or two major browsers support a second DNS system, there goes your money. -- Michael Fox
