What can I say? I am old, unemployable, and about to be declared disabled, meaning my income will continue to be so far below the poverty level, I’ll most likely end up homeless. My one hope for a decent standard of living is to make a little online. My plan, such as it is, may be a delusional dream, but every penny matters to me right now, and domain name expenses are unavoidable, and every single dollar matters. The thought of a 50-70% increase, even over a period of a few years, is disheartening. Of all the ways big companies can control the internet, why does one have to be to seemingly work to completely eliminate the lone content provider who just hopes to make a few extra dollars a month?

I am a Namecheap domain holder and the proposed name charge increases by ICCAN do not auger well for the customers like myself or the internet community as a whole. 1) If the price increases are effected yearly as proposed, then by the end of the decade the domain names will be unaffordable for the users. 2) In an open and democratic system, stackeholders are consulted when such drastic measures are suggested and in this case neither the domain name registrar's not their clients were consulted to hear our views. 3) This price increase is calculated to benefit only on player...ICCAN! 4) ICCAN is paving way to become a competitor to the domain name registrars who are their customers. This is so unethical! Please reconsider this proposal for the sake of the internet community and our end users. Thank you Lucy Thairu

ICANN, As a small business person, every penny counts. Increases that are the result of backdoor deals not only hurt me but ultimately hurt all consumers. I urge you to think prior to selling out with closed-door deals with Verisign! Thanks, Erik

What is the justification for an increase of this magnitude? The costs for operating a domain registrar have gone DOWN, so there IS no justification other than greed. The secret closed door manner in which this was negotiated is another indication of how underhanded it is. This proposed amendment should be soundly rejected. The chilling effects this will have on non-commercial site operators will compound year after year, making it increasingly difficult to have a voice in a growing corporate online landscape. I have No idea if somebody will actually read any of these emails or not, So, I am going to try to leave this very short. I'm a single mother who already works two jobs, and some times three. Even with bringing home two paychecks what are the equivalence of possibly a full-time position, I still absolutely struggle to make ends meet. I'm trying to compensate and have a little bit more money in my pocket via the Internet. The price that it costs me right now, I can barely scrape it together as it is. For that price to be raised. Would make it completely unattainable and no longer an option. All I want is to provide a good life for my children. And around every corner someone is trying to raise prices and make everything cost more to make everything more difficult and it's making it virtually impossible for me to be able to do that for my children. There's no need to raise the prices for this.... That's nothing but being greedy. Katie Steele

Just saw that .com pricing will more than likely be rising. Very bad idea. It's a guarantee I will stop buying .com domains if that happens. I'm not a business. I don't have extra money - I don't buy domains that are more than $10-12. I know I'm not alone. Part of the draw of the .com isn't just that it's "a .com" but that it is one of the most attainable TLDs. Change that, and I believe you'll lose more than you'll gain. Please note my objection to amendment 3. I feel strongly that decisions like this should not be made behind closed doors: the process by which these agreements are reached should be public. Further, it's beyond distasteful that this agreement was made in exchange for a $20M payout to ICANN; it has every appearance of a bribe.

Dear Sir/Madam Please keep the annual fee very low or consider a more flexible charging system for the .COM top level domain that will keep it accessible to individuals and small businesses. I know you are big and I wish you be bigger. But please allow to us, micro association from all world, from small and poor country, to fight against poverty with such great .COM domain.
