Hi, I’m registering my outrage at the proposed rate increases instigated by ICANN and Verisign. A small increase, related somehow to inflation globally or domestically might make sense, but nothing like the 70% increases that are proposed. This will hurt small businesses (like mine) significantly. Rollback that proposal and come up with one that makes sense. Robert Gelman web developer

To Whom It May Concern: I am a web developer who first got my start creating websites about 15 years ago while I was in high school. The low barriers to entry in the creation of websites created an outlet for my creativity and ultimately put me in a great career. It would be a shame if the cost of creating my first website had been any higher, as it might have discouraged me from following my interest and creating my own websites. Even now I have several domains that I would not renew if the cost increased further. Please do not increase the cost of .com domains. Hey, Let's not do this, please. A 70% price increase of domain names will allow for less creative freedom. Big players with too much influence will gain more influence, shutting out those trying to find their corners of the world.

I am a registrant of a several .com domain names. They make it possible to continue my business and hire employees. I am strongly against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. Of course, Verisign wants increases in .COM prices. What business doesn't want more fees?! Wanting more money is not a good enough justification. The current rate of $7.85 is already more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the prices. ICANN is supposed to "govern the domain name system in the public interest". Please do that! Fred Porter Pembroke Pines, Florida United States

Hello, I am strongly opposed to ICANN raising the cost of .com domains or any TLDs for that matter. This is not actual real estate - it's virtual. I pay for hosting and to secure the location of my data - far more than what is actually needed in terms of costs to maintain. With several domains, this is becoming more and more costly to maintain and is unnecessarily expensive. I also didn’t need to pay extra for a “secure” domain since I don’t take money on my site. Please stop putting the squeeze on us to serve your own revenue interests. Reduce costs instead of increasing the costs. Thank you, Courtney Freeman

I would like to protest the increase coming to my domain names. It is my understanding that this increase will come without any clarity about how ICANN will spend the money, or who will ensure that the funds are properly spent on domain infrastructure.
