Slides for ICANN51 meetings
I put together a few slides to use to provide an introduction to the ICG at our community discussion and other meetings at ICANN51. I’m not a big fan of words on slides, but there are some words on these slides. :) I stripped some of the detail from the timeline to make it presentable on slides, with the idea of using the timeline as a vehicle for explaining the proposal development process going forward. In the side meetings I will probably not use all of these since time is limited. Alissa
Mostly looks fine, acceptable. I cannot, however, figure out what you are trying to say with slide #5. Who or what are the three little stick figures that are scurrying from one process to another.

They are the people participating in multiple processes and/or helping with coordination between the proposals. E.g., you, me, John Curran … Alissa

Thanks Alissa for the slides .. Two comments : - On slide 5, shouldn't we include participation of the community on this slide .. We can have a 4th crowd representing the community/other interested parties (maybe in the center), participating to the different processes of the operational communities .. - On the last slide, I suggest adding reference to the ICG FAQ, if the FAQ is now out for public, is it? Alissa, Just to be more consistent with the wording and ordering of the functions in the Contract, let me suggest the following words on slide 4: IANA administration of registries containing: –DNS root zone –Internet numbering resources –Protocol parameters Be changed to: IANA activities and administration of registries containing: -Protocol Parameter Registry Management –DNS Root Zone Management -Internet Numbers Registry Management If there is not enough time to make these changes, I'm okay with the current wording. Thanks Russ. I made these changes, with some slight wordsmithing (administration of registries containing … registry management — didn’t quite make sense). Alissa On Oct 12, 2014, at 2:21 PM, Russ Mundy <mundy@tislabs.com> wrote:

Alissa, sorry for late reply. The slides are fine, but here are a few constructive suggestions. #2 could add here that ICG is working independently form ICANN? #3 for completeness, could show the number of delegates from each community #4 agree with making these consistent with other docs. #5 for consistency, specify that these are the “operational communities”? also, at risk of adding more words, could possibly have slides for: - ICG charter - summary of the RFP process - process of developing single proposal from RFP responses Paul ________________________________________________________________________ Paul Wilson, Director-General, APNIC <dg@apnic.net> http://www.apnic.net +61 7 3858 3100 On 10 Oct 2014, at 10:07 am, Alissa Cooper <alissa@cooperw.in> wrote:

I will say this out loud.
#3 for completeness, could show the number of delegates from each community
I’d rather not emphasize this actually. The numbers were not much up to us and are not very relevant to our goals and work.
#4 agree with making these consistent with other docs.
#5 for consistency, specify that these are the “operational communities”?
I will say this out loud.
also, at risk of adding more words, could possibly have slides for: - ICG charter - summary of the RFP process - process of developing single proposal from RFP responses
Done. I added charter words to slide 3 and added separate slides for the others. Alissa

The attached deck addresses comments from Manal, Russ, and Paul. In some cases I wordsmithed a bit to fit things on the slide and have them still make sense. For most of the sessions this week, I don’t think I will have time to go into the details on the additional slides Paul suggested, but I included them anyway for the audience’s reference.
