Dear RSSAC Caucus, Please find attached outcome document of ‘Best Practices for the Distribution of Anycast Instances of the Root Name Service’ work party. As it was mentioned in the caucus updates, the work party did not conclude with finishing all of it’s tasks but had many deep discussions about the questions raised in the work plan. This document summarises all of those discussions and conclusions and, at any point in time, if RSSAC or RSSAC Caucus feels one of the questions should be explored in more detail, we always have the option of booting up a new work party around that single issue and achieve more fine grained results. Greetings. I apologize for the delay in incorporating the comments from the file that Andrew Mcconachie sent out three weeks ago, but I wanted to be sure to have enough time for the outside analysis of ipcrypt. The document is ready for another review. I'm keeping the edits in Google Docs so that people can see the changes I have made. Please review the changes. In particular, see the large list of problems with ipcrypt that were added to Section 3.3. There is still one leftover comment for John Heidemann in Appendix B. If you have other suggestions for changes, particularly additions, please put them in the document or send them to the list. Dear RSSAC Caucus Members, On behalf of the RSSAC please find the RSSAC FAQ attached for your review. Please provide comments/edits to the list or in the document by February 23rd, 2018. The purpose of this document, like any FAQ, is to answer questions that are frequently asked of the RSSAC. Most of the questions in this FAQ originate from audience members in the RSSAC’s tutorial sessions on the DNS Root Server System held at ICANN meetings. They have been collected here along with other common questions the RSSAC receives, and answers have been provided by RSSAC members. Once the review is finished this document will become a web page hosted somewhere in the RSSAC section of the ICANN website. <https://www.icann.org/groups/rssac> It will not be published as an RSSAC document with a number. And because it will be published as HTML we’ll use links instead of footnotes for references. These don’t work in the PDF, so you’ll have to view the MS Word document if you want to see the URLs. Best, Carlos As part of the Bylaws-mandated Organizational Reviews process, ICANN's Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC) is currently under review. We are currently arranging interviews with interested community members who have been involved with or impacted by the SSAC, to be interviewed by the independent examiner for the SSAC review. INSTRUCTIONS FOR SCHEDULING AN INTERVIEW Appointments are first-come, first served, and are being scheduled for 60-minute blocks of time, but anticipated to take 30-45 minutes each. At ICANN61, interviews will take place at the Sheraton hotel adjacent to the convention center, beginning Saturday, 10 March. Candidates for the award will demonstrate at least five years of participation in the ICANN Community.
