Initial implementation of RSSAC047

Greetings again. As we discussed during the preparation of RSSAC047, ICANN org was going to create an initial implementation of the requirements in the document. The primary goal of this implementation is to help the RSSAC Caucus think more about metrics collecting. I have prepared a very early cut of the initial implementation: https://github.com/icann/root-metrics It is mostly (but not completely) functional, but could probably use a lot of help from the Caucus to make it more useful. If you have a GitHub account, please feel free to open issues or send pull requests. Note that I'm doing this as part of ICANN org, not as a formal part of the Caucus work. I'll add and fix things as a best-effort task among the rest of my work. One important note is that I have not set up the expected 20 vantage points, but am starting to do so now. I expect to have 20 up before the end of June so that the report at the end of July is representative (although it is likely to have flaws due to this being a very early implementation). I am having problems finding enough locations for vantage points in South America and Africa, but believe that I can have those regions filled in adequately in August. Let me know what you think, either in email or by opening issues. I'll send periodic progress reports to the Caucus mailing list. --Paul Hoffman

Tool Work Party User Narratives

Dear RSSAC Caucus Members, The RSSAC Caucus Tool Work Party has been discussing user groups that would benefit from a local perspective tool. What I left out from the narratives is which measurements each user group would likely require to accomplish this. This is the next step, and primarily what we will be talking about on our next call on August 24th. Chinese Critical Infrastructure Event Wednesday (in China)

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, the Chinese held a Critical Infrastructure EVEnt last Wednesday. You can find their recording of it at https://bcs.qianxin.com/2020/live/index?meeting_id=18. Paul Hoffman and I spoke in English, and there were three speakers in Chinese following us. One thing you will notice is that it sounds like a sentence or two got dropped out in various places. Our ICANN counterparts in China tells us that there was some data loss when I did the talk; I presume that the places where there was data loss are in those places. My apologies. I will be using the same slides to give essentially the same talk at the Taiwan IGF on 12 November local, 11 November in California. With any luck, we'll get a better recording of that and will be able to distribute a link to it.

SLA/SLE document

Greetings again. In the RSSAC Caucus meeting two weeks ago, we were told that there as a document covering service level agreements and expectations on RSOs. It seems likely that the document overlaps with the extensive Caucus work on metrics and thresholds that went into RSSAC047, so it would be good if we could discuss it here in that light. Is this document moving towards the Caucus soon? Will there be a Work Party for it? Or... ? --Paul Hoffman
