RSSAC Caucus Travel Support for IETF 122 Bangkok, Thailand

Dear RSSAC Caucus members, IETF 122 will take place in Bangkok, Thailand from 15 - 21 March 2025. There is travel support for up to four (4) RSSAC Caucus Members to attend IETF 122 including economy class airfare, accommodation, registration, and per diem: https://www.ietf.org/meeting/122/ In 2019, RSSAC approved guidelines for RSSAC Caucus members requesting travel support to attend even-numbered IETF meetings. RSSAC recently updated these guidelines in October 2024 by * changing “active work party members” to “active Caucus members” to expand the second priority to all Caucus members in section 2.2.b. * and increasing the lead time between the start of the application process and its respective IETF meeting from 120 to 150 days in section 3.1. Please see the updated RSSAC Caucus IETF Supported Travelers Funding Guidelines attached. Depending on how many requests we will receive, the RSSAC Administrative Committee may need to make the selection based on the selection criteria outlined in the guidelines. Guidelines for Changing IP Addresses Work Party Update

Dear RSSAC Caucus members, Ray, Duane and I met yesterday for an Admin meeting. We decided to cancel the next work party meeting on October 17th. Depending on mailing list activity we may also cancel the meeting on October 31st, but for now it remains on the schedule. The document is mostly stable with only a few comments left, and we didn't see a need for next week's call. After the work party meeting on October 3rd we reached out to the Chairs of the ASO and NRO to ask if any of their members could join our work party meeting at ICANN 81. We received a response from the NRO Chair (Oscar Robles) that NRO members would be joining that work party meeting. In thinking about the agenda for that meeting, on the Admin call yesterday we marked two sections of the working document where we have questions WRT RIR policies and wish to engage with the NRO's expertise. These are sections of the document where the work party has RIR policy questions that they can help with. Ray, Duane and I will hold another meeting on October 24th to decide whether or not to hold the work party meeting on October 31st. The decision will depend on what happens on the mailing list and in the Google doc between now and October 24th. Thanks, Andrew

Changing RSO addresses, critical infrastructure pools, returning addresses

Just to inform this discussion, here is an article detailing how L-Root returned an address from the general pool, and a third party started providing DNS service on that old address. https://www.icann.org/en/blogs/details/ghosts-of-root-servers-past-19-5-200… While that story had a happy ending, it is a cautionary tale. This document is providing guidance, and so we should provide recommendations on the best possible procedure. It is irrelevant whether or not some RIR has a critical infrastructure pool, or some RSO doesn't want to (or can't) keep an old address, or any other arguments of that nature. Regards, Robert
