Use of "expectations" in RSSAC001v2

This idea is meant to start a discussion of what we "expect" of RSOs. I thought that, if we can deal with this first, it will make the rest of the work on RSAAC001v2 easier to understand. In the current RSS, there is no way for an administrative body to remove an RSO for not performing the tasks in RSAAC001v1. RSSAC001v2 should not (cannot!) change that. So, starting with that understanding, I propose the following. - At the beginning of Section 3, before Section 3.1, we add something like: In this document, the word "expectation" indicates a task that each RSO is generally expected to perform if it is possible for them to do so. There may be reasons than a particular RSO cannot perform a particular expectation; in that case, the RSO is expected to state those reasons. - In the rest of Section 3, we carefully make sure each section is written with the word "expectation" instead of anything stronger or weaker. - Remove Section 5, since these are not recommendations to the ICANN Board (which is the normal use of such sections in RSSAC and SSAC documents). --Paul Hoffman

OARC 39 will be a two-day hybrid meeting held on 22 & 23 October in Belgrade, Serbia at 10:00 AM (Local time - CEST (UTC+02:00)) The onsite part of the meeting will be colocated with RIPE 85. The Programme Committee is seeking contributions from the community. All DNS-related subjects and suggestions for discussion topics are welcome. For inspiration, we provide a non-exhaustive list of ideas: * Operations: Any operational gotchas, lessons learned from an outage, details/reasons for a recent outage (how to improve TTR, tooling). * Deployment: DNS config management and release process. * Monitoring: Log ingestion pipeline, analytics infrastructure, anomaly detection. * Scaling: DNS performance management and metrics. Call for Volunteers: FY24 Planning Prioritization Group

Dear RSSAC Caucus Members, ICANN’s Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees are invited to nominate individuals to serve on the FY24 Planning Prioritization Group. Ken Renard has already volunteered to serve on the FY24 Planning Prioritization Group, but the RSSAC may send two members. The FY24 Planning Prioritization Group would like to hold meetings in September and early October 2022. This timing will permit ICANN org to receive input for the development of the Draft Operating Plan and Budget which is scheduled for Public Comment in December 2022. The prioritization process is a step in the annual ICANN planning process. The scope of activities to be included in this prioritization process are Board-approved implementation work such as PDP recommendations, Specific Review recommendations and the implementation of other non-policy and advice work.
