Please do not make these changes to the .COM domains, I own many such domains and the price increases will force me to close down several side businesses. Additionally, I am confused about why ICANN is apparently asking Verisign for a bribe of $20 million to allow them to start raising prices on their domains. This sort of behavior can only hurt the Internet, and ICANN is supposed to be the governing body for domain name registration, allowing this sort of change to the rules just because someone is willing to pay you enough money is terrible!

Times change, business operations change, and undeniably costs change; but ethics, however, should guide these changes. I don't expect as the little guy, aka the consumer, to matter much to the big guys, but some discernment gains far more respect and appreciation then deception. It's pretty simple. Ultimately, it has, and always will be the big guys who win battles such as these, but the little guys deserve to be aware of a war, not blind sided by defeat hearing a declaration of victory. By choosing to allow for price increases on .com domain names, you are going to hurt the business of the world. I value highly my ability to begin a business with little startup cost and allows a minority like me to be able to follow dreams. The internet is special because it is a place where anyone can come and contribute their voice. By allowing for price increases you are going to price out a group of people that deserve to be heard. I absolutely don't agree with higher prices on domain names!! With everything else there is to pay for, thos shouldn't be one of them!! POS companies that have nothing better to do but make shady contract deals for stupid amounts of monies and trick smaller honest companies out of their monies isn't fair either. I sincerely hope a lot more people vote no and make their voices heard through email too!! -Jean Harlow

I am against any changes that will increase the cost of domain names. Verisign should NOT be allowed to increase .com prices just because they have given a "donation" to ICANN. This is clearly NOT a donation. This is a corrupt bribe. They are paying $20m and getting near $1B in return paid for by users. This is WRONG. The internet is not supposed to be corrupted by this type of pay for play. Why are you allowing them to make all this profit? Not supposed to be this way. Please block this! I read a defense of this “ICANN org is not a price regulator and will defer to the expertise of relevant competition authorities. As such, ICANN has long-deferred to the DOC and the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) for the regulation of pricing for .COM registry services,” the organization notes in a public comment period <https://www.icann.org/public-comments/com-amendment-3-2020-01-03-en> on the proposed agreement." This might be a valid argument if anyone actually believed that the US DOJ were not also now corrupt as of 2019/2020 which clearly the DOJ has become both political and corrupt. It seems 98 per cent of public comments were opposed to the cap-lifting. The quick turnaround for a price hike is unacceptable. There was no discussion with the larger community, in addition to shady funding and poor implementation of process and feedback makes me not agree with the issue of increasing prices. It is acceptable to raise prices for cost of infrastructure, but there should be a breakdown or justification as to where these funds are coming from and the allocation of current prices and why the current proposal remedies any shortfalls.

Hello, I am against the proposed changes. I'm not against Verisign raising prices somewhat, but what is being proposed would limit access to people who have less resources in the long term. I'm also against them limiting competition by Verisign having any kind of exclusive control over .COM domains through a single chosen reseller. Josh
