I am a domainer (I invest in domain names as a business) and I am also a web designer. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. Hello, As governors of the Domain Name System, ICANN must act in the public's best interest and stop the proposed .Com price increase. It is unwarranted and will not result in Verisign "enhancing the security, stability, and resiliency of the Domain Name System" as called for in Amendment 3. I analyze stocks for a living. Verisign is already wildly profitable. They've had ample cash flow available for years to make such enhancements however their executives have instead chosen to use it for stock buy backs. SEC filings show that over the past 5 years Verisign generated $3.5B in cash flow from operations. Of that, they have used over $3.3B to repurchase their stock while spending only $194M in capital expenditures. In 2019 alone they spent $783M buying back their shares. How can ICANN justify any rise in price on .Com registrants in the face of such corporate greed? If you allow Amendment 3 to go forward you will merely further enrich VRSN shareholders at the expense of the general public. Sincerely, Jeff Ducharme

Dear ICANN Team, I am writing to share my views on domain prices. I, and my colleagues and everyone else I know in the business are complaining about the rise in domain prices. If this goes on like this, we have no option but to decrease our domains (ie. not renew them). This means bad business for domain registrars, so starts an endless loop of challenges. If we want a better and safe future for the internet, we should make shure that the domain prices do not go up and equally important: that the domain prices are predictable. After all, we are all in the same boat, we need to be more supportive and careful. If this goes on like now, I am considering to change my business and go to another sector where the future is more predictable. Best regards Mel Dan

I am a .com registrant and am associated with the secondary market. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign and ICANN benefit from the increase. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. The public has a vested interest in reasonably priced domain registrations to foster innovation on the internet and allow the individuals to maintain a presence on the web. -- Daniela Valero

The .COM domain zone is a world leader among other domain zones and a global benchmark for the development of modern Internet technologies, and the Internet business as a whole. Recently, however, traditional domain zones have been under tremendous pressure from new domain zones and social networks. Therefore, it is very important for the world to have affordable and reliable .com domains, as this contributes to the development of the modern information business and information technologies. The current registration and renewal prices are reasonable and adequate. Any increase in the prices of .com will cause a decrease in the development of projects in .com and the flow of potential customers to other domain zones or social networks. According to experts, the amount of funds necessary for the reliable functioning of the domain infrastructure (taking into account the number of domains in this domain zone) is about $3 USD per year for one domain. All of the above is the desire of the registry operator to get rich at the expense of domain owners. Removing the restriction on price increases will lead to negative consequences for the world community. Business is good, but only if it is done not to the detriment of the interests of the world community. I ask you to prohibit price increases for .COM, since current prices are sufficient and reasonable, and fully satisfy the needs for ensuring the security and reliability of the domain infrastructure and contribute to the development of the .COM domain zone, and is in the interest of the world community.
