As a working artist, I use a .com website to promote my work to directors and artists as well as a teaching tool for young artists to learn about the craft of acting. I am not a corporation that can afford to have large changes made to my cost of living. I work three jobs in the arts and make enough to live and save for when I cannot work any longer. Your changes to the contract with Version, Inc. seem to be motivated by greed and not by necessity or any forethought for other people’s well-beings. I understand that you made no public access to these changes but instead made these changes in secret. Since I am paying you through my annual usage fee, I feel that it is your duty as a fellow human being to have been transparent in your business dealings. You have not. As I understand it, your new dealings with Verisign can lead to an increase of 70% of costs to us. That is not affordable for me. The internet is a place for common good and shared information; please do not limit it to only the wealthy. They do not have the corner on the creative ideas that will bring this world into a better place. The wealthy only have money. It’s not power. It's just paper. Please rethink what you are doing. B. I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. Pierre GEOFFROY France

Hi, Please dont be profit minded, as it will impact lot of small businesses and individuals also. What is the running expenses for maintaining the .com domain system. Is it being met by the current fees that is charged for the same. If the current fees cant meet the running expenses, then look at adjusting the fees such that it can meet the running expenses. Also add the cost for doing some amount of research and development for improving the system in responsible ways. On top of it adjust for inflation and nothing more please. Please look at this as a service for the good of all and not as a profit making activity. -- Keep ;-) HanishKVC

After the dot-org fiasco, I would urge ICANN to pay careful attention to the feedback being received for this amendment. Allowing unnecessary price increases is not a good idea.

I’m against any increases in domains prices. In fact, I encourage making the prices lower for various reasons. We need to support everyone who’s eager to share knowledge and experience with the world.

Hello, allowing Verisign to increase prices every year is a one way track that will affect customers and service in a negative way. The contract of who should manage the infrastructure should be open to competition. Please do not make the Internet a lot worse by making it a monopoly.

Hello, I am a domain name reseller to average joe end-users and the proposed price increase schedule and percentages are going to squeeze the smaller resellers like myself who already have very thin margins in order to compete with the big box registrars. Small resellers provide superior customer service and target niche use cases for domain names. Small resellers are also helpful to people who are not very internet savvy and appreciate familiar support relationships that are on a first name basis. If I pass on price increases, many customers will drop their back-shelf names or transfer to larger registrars who's large scale and extensive up-sell opportunities allows them to absorb price increases. Price increases are also unfair for lower income individuals who can not afford to plan ahead and renew their domain for 10 years at the lower rates before an increase. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. I am a registrant of 2 .com domain names which I use to run an extremely small writing and publishing business. The only way I make any money at this business and keep from losing money is by keeping my expenses very low. A price increase will make it very difficult to maintain my business which depends on people being able to easily find my easily identifiable websites . Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry â?" it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. and a price hike is not in the public interest. Thank you for your time.
