We need to build in time in case we have questions we need to send back to the communities, and we need to give them time to address those questions, but it’s also possible that we will not have questions and therefore the built-in time will not be necessary. (3) In our proposal assembly and finalization process, we envisioned running two public comment periods after having assembled a complete proposal. This timeline suggests running a single public comment process instead. Given that the CWG will have run multiple public comment periods on the names piece of the proposal, and the IETF and RIR proposal components will have been quite stable and thoroughly vetted for many months by the time we can run a public comment process on the complete proposal, I think a single public comment process should be sufficient. This will also allow us to complete our work within two ICANN meeting cycles after our receipt of the names proposal. (4) I’ve tried to take into account the timing of future ICANN meetings as well as the impact of holiday periods in putting this together. (5) The timeline envisions us transmitting the final proposal to the ICANN Board for submission to NTIA in March 2016. This assumes that the current NTIA contract will have been sufficiently extended beyond September 2015. If it does not get extended, of course we will have to re-evaluate not just the timeline but our work on the transition more broadly at that time. It would be great to discussion about this going on the mailing list this week. I think we should reserve 90 minutes to discuss at our face-to-face meeting, with another 45 minutes or so of parking lot time in case we want to come back to it after the initial discussion. Here is what I would write: The ICG suggests that you take all comments made to the ICG about your proposal or the process of creating it as if they were made inside your process and address them as you normally would. This may include discussing the response in your appropriate fora. In particular we suggest that you respond to the comments as you normally would, preferably in public. If the ICG has specific questions to you based on the comments we will explicitly ask them to you as part of our normal ICG process just like any other question we may have. Daniel

Dear ICG colleagues and friends, I was expecting to talk about this during our call today, but now that it has been canceled, allow me to do it by e-mail. As you may know, I will be leaving my position of CEO of AFRINIC at the end of this month. While the RIRs have asked me to continue representing the NRO in the ICG, which I have agreed to do, recent evolutions and precisions in regard to what I may be doing next is making me reconsider that commitment to the NRO. I have already notified them of this change, and they are already working to appoint a new representative. Even though nothing is formal or official yet about my next move, I will prefer to withdraw from ICG now to allow the new person to join the group as soon as possible and be prepared to attend the upcoming face to face meeting in Singapore. Allow me to use this opportunity to thank you all for the great spirit of cooperation and collaboration that exist within this very diverse group. I wish you all the wisdom and cohesion that is needed to successfully complete this important job. A special appreciation to Alissa, Patrik and Mohamed (Chair and Co-Chairs) for your leadership in coordinating the work of the group. Secretariat, division of labor

All, We are quite far into the transition of the secretariat functions from ICANN to ISOC-SG. This message is to remind people what the implications will be, and what the division of labor will be. ICANN will still: - Coordinate translation and interpretation availability and provide such services - Provide live transcription (at face 2 face meetings) - Coordinate ICG member travel and expenses - Provide audio and video at meetings (both f2f and teleconferences), chat support etc It will be Alice that continues to be our main contact (unless she refers to someone else), although her time allocation for ICG will decrease significantly. ISOC-SG will take over everything else which, just to remind people, the domain name for the web site and mailing lists we use will change to ianacg.org. When the operations do change, we will inform you about the details. Patrik
