FY18 Operating Plan and Budget - Published for Public Comment

Dear ICANN Community, ICANN's Draft FY18 Operating Plan and Budget, and Five-Year Operating Plan Update was published for public comment on 8 March 2017. Please note that on 13 March 2017, revised documents with minor corrections were published along with a summary of the changes. You may find the documents and full announcement on the public comment website at https://www.icann.org/public-comments/fy18-budget-2017-03-08-en . We would like to invite you to schedule a call to discuss your comments on these documents, should it be needed. The calls would be held one to two weeks after public comment closes 28 April 2017. To schedule a placeholder meeting with the Planning Team, please contact me by 31 March 2017. UPCOMING Public Comment Period - FY18 Operating Plan and Budget

Dear ICANN Community Members, As planned, the publication of the draft FY18 Operating Plan and Budget is upcoming, and intended for 7 Mar 2017, in line with our objective of having the document posted before ICANN 58. The public comment period will run for 51 days and end 28 April 2017. We will email an announcement once the document has been posted. We look forward to your participation and comments. Additionally, we would like to bring to your attention the upcoming Budget Working Group and Financial Accountability sessions at ICANN 58 in Copenhagen. Please see the session details below along with links to sign up online and/or participate remotely. If you know of additional community members who may be interested in attending, please feel free to forward this information to them. Dear Community Members and Leaders, 15 December 2016 marks the launch of the FY18 SO-AC Community Additional Budget Request process. As you know, this process pertains to a dedicated part of the overall ICANN annual budget that is set aside to fund specific requests from the community for activities that are not already included in the recurring ICANN budget. As such, it is proposed that the FY18 Operating Plan and Budget be adopted as the "Caretaker IANA Budget" described in Annex F to ICANN’s Bylaws” Should there be disagreement on the PTI budget in 2025, the FY18 budget would clearly be inadequate as the ‘caretaker budget’. If your intention that the most recent budget approved by PTI, and which has not been objected to by the community should represent the caretaker budget then you should propose this.
