Dear IRT, As planned, we have just published the policy and made this announcement. Implementation of Consensus Policy for the Protection of Red Cross & Red Crescent Identifiers LOS ANGELES – 18 February 2020 – Today, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced that it is has revised the Protection of International Governmental Organization (IGO) and International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO) Identifiers in All gTLDs Policy, to reflect an updated reserved names list for certain Red Cross and Red Crescent names at the second level of the Domain Name System (DNS). This policy update is the implementation of the consensus policy developed by the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) and adopted<https://www.icann.org/resources/board-material/resolutions-2019-01-27-en#2.d> by the ICANN Board in January 2019. Red Cross Policy Publication in Feb 2020

Dear IRT, Thank you for your support for getting the Red Cross & Red Crescent Names update. The IPT has been going through the publication details carefully to ensure all updates are synchronized, consistent, and clear. To give you an idea, the following are the moving pieces. 1. Consensus Policy page update 2. New policy language 3. Archive of the existing policy with note on the update 4. Reserved names list landing page updated with old and new XML files 5. Creation of the new XML file 6. URL management * Current URL must point to the latest and current XML * The existing XML must receive a new URL and maintained for use till 31 July 2020 7. Legal notice Our goal is to publish this policy in February and I will advise the IRT on the exact date. We are keeping with “No Later Than 1 August 2020 effective date as published for public comment. Dear IRT, As of yesterday, 12 December 2019, the public comment was closed for the Implementation Plan for the GNSO Consensus Policy Relating to the Protection of Certain Red Cross Names. We’ve received 4 comments: https://mm.icann.org/pipermail/comments-red-cross-names-implementation-23oc… We will begin to work on the Summary and Analysis report. I did receive a message from Rafik Dammark: “sorry for late notice, we got our NCSG draft shared late and it is under review. I would like to make a late submission hopefully before the finalization of staff report.” I told Rafik that I’d accommodate the late submission.
