Change of ASO's designated representative to the Empowered Community Administration

Dear Mary, I currently serve as the ASO’s designated representative to the Empowered Community Administration. At our meeting of 16 March 2018, the NRO Executive Committee determined that the ASO’s designated representative should be fulfilled in future by the Secretary of the NRO EC, rather than the Chair. Therefore I hereby advise that during the rest of 2018, Mr Alan Barrett, CEO of AFRINIC, will serve as the ASO’s designated representative to the Empowered Community Administration. For your information, we expect to reassign our representative annually in future, as the position of NRO EC Secretary is rotated among the RIRs on an annual basis, at the start of each year. Please let me know if there is any other information required. ICANN62 planning

Dear members of the Empowered Community Administration, This message is to let you know that staff supporting your work has alerted the ICANN Meetings Team to the possible need for a Community Forum in Panama at ICANN62. This, obviously, is a matter that will not arise unless and until a petition to reject the FY19 Budget & Operating Plan is submitted, accepted and supported in accordance with the ICANN Bylaws, following initial Board approval of the proposed budget – which is currently anticipated to take place around the end of May. We therefore thought that noting the possibility for our Meetings Team colleagues was an appropriate precaution, in view of the deadline of 12 April for cross-community sessions. Please let me know if you have any concerns or suggestions. I attach a copy of the ICANN62 block schedule (current as of 29 March) for your review. Thank you! The session type will indicate the expected level of community participation in session development which will help us to identify the "cross-community" sessions vs. topic sessions facilitated by a single group. The form also allows users to indicate a longer (180 min) duration for a Cross Community Topic Session if desired. Currently, the longer duration is not an option for a HIT session, however, this is flexible, so it shouldn't be the cause for any concerns. (If a HIT for 180 min is preferred, please include a note in the comments section.) Session Types Cross Community Topic Session: A session on an important topic of interest which encourages community involvement and participation from all groups; Session is facilitated by at least two or more SO/AC/SG/C groups. High Interest Topic Session: A session on an important topic of interest led by a single SO/AC/SG/C group.
