ISPCP Comments on Clarification of Reasons for Denial of Inter-Registrar Transfers

All: Sorry to ask this of you so quickly, but we are late getting comments in on this PDP. It is related to a set of very limited issues regarding the transfer of domain names between registrars. Specifically it addresses the four main reasons under which a Registrar of Record may deny a request for transfer. Those reasons are denial for nonpayment, denial because the domain name is in lock status, denial during the first 60 days of registration and denial during the first 60 days after the previous transfer. The ISPCP comments stress clarity in process for our customers and clear definitions for terms in the inter-registrar transfer process. It also suggests that the denial during the first 60 days after previous transfer is no longer needed. We need comments very quickly so that this can be shipped up to the staff shepherd for the issue. Comments and edits would be most welcome! http://www.icann.org/announcements/announcement-13mar08.htm Comment Period Extended on Travel Support Policies 13 March 2008 The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers has extended the public comment period on the development of Travel Support policies for volunteers who make ICANN's community-based work possible. Volunteers from across the globe support ICANN's work by serving on ICANN's various Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees. The goal of this assessment of travel support policies is to update current policies, develop a consistent approach to participation and travel support, and determine what is sustainable and reasonable in terms of the budget. While this not a formal policy development process as defined in ICANN Bylaws, input is being sought and will be used in the spirit of the commitment to openness and transparency. The comment period is being extended by a week and will close on 24 April 2008. All: The attached document has been produced as a direct result of a joint dialogue between ISPCP, BC and IPC representatives who all share similar concerns about the current approach to gNSO reform as outlined in the Board Governance Committee proposals. The intent of this document is to seek a 30-day extension to the comment period which will enable further development of an alternative approach that the joint constituencies can all support. It is strongly recommended that the ISPCP support this document. The plan is to submit this to the Board on March 19th.
