End of a cycle

A new period begins and with this the end of a great experience. For 2 consecutive terms I exercised the responsibility of being Vice Chair of this wonderful working group and although my wish was to continue with you. It is difficult for me since I have been appointment as a Mentor for ALAC for the ICANN Fellowship Program, which will require a lot of my time. I will continue to be linked to the wg and I take with me the satisfaction of having contributed to positioning universal acceptance in my LAC region. Thanks to the staff for their great support, to María for her excellent work and to you dear group thank you and keep working hard to continue consolidating the objective of the wg. Thank you, Simone for reviewing the uasg.tech website content from an SEO perspective. All very useful and valid inputs. We will consider these for future blogs, content posts, etc. I've also forwarded your feedback to Blacknight to ask for their assistance in this matter. Since this work has two aspects: SEO-oriented content and website ranking, we can consider a single solution that will resolve both at once. As mentioned, UASG website needs better SEO-oriented content to rank higher in search engines. In order to analyze some aspects such as the right data entry of the snippet section, I need to access the backend, in our case WordPress. So what I can do here is simply talk about what I can see "on the surface". Let's take for example the page "Document hub": [cid:b2138db3-e1d0-4cb4-9975-e812b26a82e9] To optimize this site, we would need some text where we explain e.g. what this page contains, how users can benefit from this hub section, etc. This will help us position the keyword and give search engines some content to scan. Creating a more structured hub with subcategories (sub URLs) and a description of each can help as well. The richer, qualitative, and clear a page is, the more a page acquires value in the eye of the search engine. The same goes for the Case Studies [uasg.tech]<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/uasg.tech/case-studies/__;!!PtGJab4!qTJo…> section where basically there is no content. I tried to query "UASG case studies" and I didn't even get the webpage in Google on the first 2-3 results pages. This means Google does not even correlate at the moment my query with the title of this page. Writing a more clear title and a relevant and structured text is required. And in case you are wondering, yes, this is a lot of work that needs to be discussed also with SEO and web development experts 😄 [cid:62b678b3-f84e-43e2-827e-ca115061fa9f] Taking a look at the blog, the situation is somehow better, still not ideal if SEO is the goal. Quite a long article (which is good) but it lacks a clear structure for SEO. Usually, we divide articles into paragraphs using different headers (H1, H2, H3, etc.). Analyzing the code through my browser I can see the following: H2 is the title of the post which works perfectly but the article has no structure. [cid:e9605e75-edf5-42e6-afd0-6b23480ad8e3] Another section of the webpage, outside the article, is defined as H3. (But this could also be something predefined by the WordPress layout). Still, the article is very small and it seems there is no keyword strategy behind so it is going to be hard to rank. All aspects I highlighted here can be easily improved in WordPress and they should ideally be taken into account in the future. There is a lot of work behind SEO and positioning a website with good content. But above all, there is much different expertise and thus experts involved. I, myself, work in content and I know how to create SEO-optimized pieces of content. But when it comes to ranking a whole website, I'm afraid it goes far beyond my professional skills. I hope my writing gave you at least a better understanding of some of the points that can be adjusted. Chair's term completed

Dear UA Comms WG members, One year has passed since I was elected as a Comms WG Chair and now my term comes to its end. During 2022 I will be involved in local projects more intensively, so I won’t have enough time to continue work in the Chair’s role, although I hope to keep some participation in WG activities and calls so far. I want to believe it was a productive and fruitful year for Comms WG. We successfully completed FY21 and have initiated realization of all planned activities which should be completed in time by the end of FY22. The Comms WG has started to spread the UASG Newsletter, keep an eye on UA events and publications worldwide, prepare the first social media paid campaign, website re-design and SEO audit, work on UASG content matrix to better organize its dissemination among the key stakeholder groups and strategic comms plan. We have begun to collaborate with other working groups on joint activities through sub-groups such as on Explainer Videos and IGF platforms. Of course, there are else many things to be done and achieved by Comms WG but we have worked on basements and made some progress. I would like to say many thanks to those WG members and staff who actively participate in our calls, provide their expertise and efforts and volunteer into the operational work of UA Comms WG. It was awesome to work with your, to learn from you and make brainstorming together. Please, keep doing it! 😊 To make the transition smooth and seamless, I am planning to finalize some of taken WG tasks in January-February and would be happy to share my experience with a new-elected UA Comms WG Chair, if needed.
