REMINDER submit your requests for FY 16 At-Large Captioning Pilot Project- Captioning calls for April

Dear All, On behalf of Judith Hellerstein, At-Large Captioning Pilot Project group lead and NARALO's Secretary, this is a reminder to submit your request for captioning facilities for calls to be held in April 2016. The implementation of this project will be structured as follows: * Three calls to include captioning each month for a total of 9 teleconferences, not exceeding 60 minutes per call (with the exception of the ALAC Monthly Meeting) * The calls shall be held between January - first week June 2016. * During the first pilot phase of this captioning project the language used will be English. * In order to select the calls the captioning team has developed a set of criteria to evaluate and rate the requests. The request for captioning must meet at least one of these criteria to be put on the list. Criteria for Captioning: 1) Are there persons with disabilities or with limited bandwidth participating? 2) Are there webinars of general interest to the ICANN community that would increase the engagement of non-native English speakers? 3) Are the meetings or discussions about accessible tools or software? If you would like to have a teleconference captioned during this pilot phase please submit your request to At-Large Staff<mailto:staff@atlarge.icann.org<mailto:staff@atlarge.icann.org>> by March 30th . * The At-Large Captioning Pilot Project group, in collaboration with At-Large Staff, will select the calls that will have captioning based on the criteria noted above. * A short poll will be made at the end of each call where captioning is used to ask for feedback on the captioning program during that call. Volunteers for the Planning of the NARALO General Assembly

Hi Folks Some of you might still be on holidays or recovering from the last ICANN trip. Meanwhile I am assuming that we will still have a General Assembly in some location if not San Juan, PR. within our region I hope I would like to find out who is interested in volunteering in some capacity for the event. Recently we found out that NARALO has a Adobe channel to use so we can arrange a planning call. Tasks -Planning the agenda -Faciliators -Topic suggestions -Social Events -Mentoring -Sponsorship -Etc I will be around until March 22 and i leave for NTEN and then shortly after I will be the Southern School of Internet Governance but always online Glenn McKnight mcknight.glenn(a)gmail.com skype gmcknight twitter gmcknight .

Nomination for NARALO Elections opens on April 11th, 2016

Hi Folks We will formally open the Nomination process at the next NARALO meeting in April. You can self nominate or find a nominator starting on April 11th, 2016. Note we have a long history of consensus vs a formal election process we encourage all to commence the discussion with the leadership. large part of the next months's meeting will include a discussion of process. If the community decides we have multiple candidates we would like to make sure everyone is aware of joining into the dialogue. Open positions include Chair( currently held by Glenn McKnight- not termed limited), Secretariat( currently held by Judith Hellerstein- not term limited), the Nomcom Position( Eduardo Diaz-permitted to run one more year) NARALO ALAC- Member( Currently held by Alan Greenberg) The current NARALO elected postions for ALAC has another term which currently is Garth Bruen his position is not open.
