The title of the presentation at that time was "Internationalized Domain Names (IDN) and the Latin Script" where he covered, in easy to understand terms, the concept behind IDNs and the Latin Script. On January 11, 2021 @ 20h00 UTC, Bill will be presenting an expanded version of its original presentation by including homographic DNS Abuse risks associated with IDNs. We look at both what new opportunities it offers for those whose language of choice is not English. And we look at what (unintended) negative consequences are possible. The ccPDP3 Review Mechanism Working Group focuses on the development of a review mechanism that pertains to decisions regarding the delegation, transfer, revocation, and retirement of country code top-level domains. The working group has identified the decisions that should be subject to a review mechanism and is currently exploring the requirements for the review mechanism itself. The ccPDP4 on IDN ccTLD Working Group aims to develop policy recommendations for the ICANN Board. The results of this ccPDP will eventually replace the IDN ccTLD Fast Track Process, which currently guides the selection process of IDN ccTLD strings. Currently, we are in the assessment period. During this period, NomCom delegates undertake a series of steps to evaluate the applications. These steps are summarized below and include but are not limited to: - Independently reviewing each of the applications. - Holding a meeting to review all of the applications and narrow down the list of applicants. - Performing a deep dive into the remaining list of applicants. - Holding a second assessment meeting based on this shortlist of applicants. - Conducting virtual interviews with shortlisted candidates.
