In line with one of ICANN’s FY21-25 Strategic Goals <https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/strategic-plan-2021-2025-24jun1…> to “support and grow active, informed, and effective stakeholder participation,” the ICANN for Beginners Virtual Program expands virtual participation and engagement opportunities for newcomers through introductory content. If you are new to ICANN, the program will provide you with a first-class beginner experience by: 1. *Creating a positive impression *that affirms how beginners' participation can add value to both their professional development and the global Internet ecosystem (e.g. why engage?); 2. *Building an understanding of ICANN*; and 3. *Fostering participation *by helping beginners learn how to participate and engage at ICANN. Participation in the program’s webinars is open to all individuals who are new at ICANN and who wish to learn more about specific topics. Evan - It is a good point about resolving calendar conflicts.. but if possible, it is nice to have the GA before or after the ARIN meeting so as to encourage participating in both.. however, it is probably good to note that the Fall ARIN meeting is usually also concurrent with NANOG.. so future GA might be better targeted to be concurrent with the Spring ARIN meeting vs. Fall for avoiding adding in conflict with NANOG meeting dynamics too.. As to the differences in safety protocols.. I believe ARIN generally uses whatever the local health requirements are.. ICANN has elected to be more restrictive? -ron PS also to note, the last day of an ARIN meeting is usually org reports and focused on members vs. days 1-2 that have more policy work.. PPS I would appreciate if vote for me in the upcoming election if you are an ARIN resource holder eligible to vote! :)

Dear NARALO members, On behalf of NARALO’s Chair, Greg Shatan, and Secretariat, Glenn McKnight, we are pleased to announce that the NARALO General Assembly will be held at the W Hollywood Hotel<https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/laxwh-w-hollywood/overview/?scid=f2ae…> in Los Angeles, California on Wednesday, 19 and Thursday, 20 October 2022. There will be a welcome reception on the evening of Tuesday, 18 October. The NARALO General Assembly theme is “Empowerment, Encouragement and Engagement” and is focused on re-engaging all NARALO representatives. Additional information is available on the NARALO General Assembly 2022 Workspace<https://community.icann.org/display/NARALO/NARALO+General+Assembly+2022>. One representative from each ALS and one representative from the individual members will be funded to attend in person. However, as the meeting will be hybrid, all NARALO members are welcome to join via zoom. Hi all, I apologize for not being able to make the calls on the GA. Various reasons. I ask a nagging question given the difficulty of syncing up the NARALO GA with ARIN: *Why do we need to do this?* I've been to a number of ARIN meetings and I'm very aware of its function (I still own a Class C block). There is SO SO little in common between ARIN functions and what NARALO needs to do that IMO the two meetings can be safely decoupled. I understand that co-location is a very nice-to-have but clearly the timing is causing people grief and forcing some to cancel. (Frankly, I wasn't able to make the original dates but *can* make the new ones.) ICANN Policy courses at ICANN LEARN

New courses about the At-Large community are now available: ICANN At-Large: Welcome to Our World and ICANN Policy Development: A Guide for At-Large Participants. ICANN Learn <https://learn.icann.org/> now hosts two new courses about the At-Large community. *ICANN At-Large: Welcome to Our World* provides an introduction to the At-Large community and the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC), how they function within the ICANN ecosystem, and how you can start and continue your involvement in the At-Large community. *ICANN Policy Development: A Guide for At-Large Participants* delivers a working knowledge of the ALAC policy advice development process and the various policy development opportunities for the At-Large community to join at ICANN. These two courses will be evaluated for translation based on usage in English and demand for the other standard United Nations languages. The *Policy Development Fundamentals* course is a prerequisite to *ICANN Policy Development: A Guide for At-Large Participants*, providing a foundational understanding of how policy development works at ICANN. A global community of stakeholders and participants with different backgrounds and points of view help coordinate and support the unique identifiers of the Internet. The At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) and At-Large community express the interests of Internet end users as part of ICANN policy development. Capacity development across the ICANN ecosystem is a priority. These new community-led courses will serve as a cornerstone for building skills and knowledge about the At-Large community and its policy advice work.
