Update on NARALO General Assemby at ARIN New Orleans

Hi Folks We have had tremendous responses for our membership on the forthcoming General Assembly and currently we have 22 confirmed ALS who will be participating for the entire ARIN and NARALO event. This is great news and thank you all who responded so quickly. We expect a few others responding after their board meetings this week. In addition we also expect one additional member from the Unaffiliated list. Alan Greenberg the rep will be in communication to the list of 18 Unaffiliated members. The Logistics committee met together with staff on the logistics of the event and we will be keeping everyone in the loop on the full details of the agenda. Judith Hellerstein is responsible for the speakers and she has reached out to numerous ICANN staff and Board members for their active participation . FY 17 At-Large Captioning Pilot Project to start in JAN 2017!

Dear All, We are excited to announce that Phase 2 of the Captioning pilot will start up again in January. Please pass this email to others who I have missed. If you would like to have a teleconference captioned during this second phase of the pilot please submit your request to At-Large Staff<mailto:staff@atlarge.icann.org> by January 1 or as soon as possible As agreed to in part 1 of the pilot, the implementation of this project will be structured as follows: * Three calls to include captioning each month for a total of 6 teleconferences, not exceeding 60 minutes per call (with the exception of the ALAC Monthly Meeting) * The calls shall be held between January - February 2017 * Most calls will be captioned in English, with the exception of 1 in French and 1 in Spanish to be held in February * Priority will be given to those groups who did not make it into the first phase. These include cross community groups such as the CCWG-Accountability and the CCWG-IG and other CCWGs * To select the calls the captioning team has developed a set of criteria to evaluate and rate the requests. The request for captioning must meet at least one of these criteria to be put on the list. Criteria for Captioning: 1) Are there persons with disabilities or with limited bandwidth participating? 2) Are there webinars of general interest to the ICANN community that would increase the engagement of non-native English speakers? 3) Are the meetings or discussions about accessible tools or software? * The At-Large Captioning Pilot Project group, in collaboration with At-Large Staff, will select the calls that will have captioning based on the criteria noted above. * A short poll will be made at the end of each call where captioning is used to ask for feedback on the captioning program during that call and also for those who watch/listen to the call at a later date. . At-Large Community Announces the Slate of Candidates to Proceed to the Next Stage of the ICANN Board Director Position Selection

Dear All, The Board Candidate Evaluation Committee (BCEC) has now concluded its candidate evaluation process for the ICANN Board Director position selected by the At-Large Community. On behalf of the BCEC, we are pleased to announce that the following candidates will go forward to the next stage of the selection process. The candidates, listed in alphabetical order of the last name, are: *Alan Greenberg (Canada) *Leon Felipe Sanchez Ambia (Mexico) That next stage of the selection process is planned and managed by the Board Member Selection Process Committee (BMSPC). The process involves calls across Regional At-Large Organizations (RALOs) to discuss the BCEC slate of candidates, the option of possible petitions by RALOs to add to this slate additional candidates who have submitted Expression of Interests (EoIs) but were not selected by the BCEC, and the agreement on the final slate of candidates. General Assembly Planning

Hi Folks Thanks for the quick responses on the General Assembly attendance We have 19 confirmed names of organizations and we are expecting some of the groups coming back with their organizations designates. We can expect 27 attendees from all the ALS's from US Mainland, US PR and Canada. A draft version of the time allotments have been created and some members have stepped up as facilitators. Clearly his presence on Wednesday morning would be a great kick-off to the main session. He is inspiration and no nonsense guy. His presence at our social events the night before would also be great.
