First, ICANN published earlier this year an EOI (expression of interest) survey [docs.google.com]<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdolczI…> so that future in-kind support providers to the ICANN Applicant Support Program (ASP) can indicate interest in potentially providing pro bono services to new gTLD applicants through the ASP. Potential pro bono services might include general business services, application services or technical services. The small team invites GAC colleagues to encourage any providers you believe may be interested in providing pro bono support to complete the EOI survey, as these types of services will be crucial to supporting next round applicants through the ASP. Secondly, small team members have noted that ICANN’s ASP team has complied an additional list of reference resources generated around ICANN78 that can provide useful background information and potentially generate further ideas from examination of other successful global support programs. Public comment of the String Similarity Review Guidelines

Dear all, Please see the message below from Sarmad Hussain re: public comment of the String Similarity Review Guidelines. Best. Lars Dear IRT members, As you may recall from our discussion on String Similarity Review AGB module<https://docs.google.com/document/d/18N3fmL8cJrx4h6yd7A-uFzS60tBSqeEGynxxVLw…> (Section 1.3.3.) that IDN EPDP Phase 1 report recommends developing String Similarity Review Guidelines, which will be used by the String Similarity Review Panel. For preparing these guidelines, we are planning to publish a report for public comment on 7 Feb. 2023. This report provides details of relevant factors to consider for string similarity review and a two-step process to cater to potentially a large number of comparisons in the string similarity review due to variant strings along with the applied-for strings. If the community agrees with this approach, we will conduct Phase 2 of this work, where we will finalize the guidelines, along with the data and tools being suggested at this time. We also intend to publish Phase 2 work for public comment before finalizing it. As shared during our discussion, we are also organizing a session at ICANN79 where we intend to present the details of the report for community input. Greetings IRT members, As promised during the 1 February IRT meeting #26a, the Applicant Support Program (ASP) Project Team is sharing the Draft Applicant Support Program Handbook in advance of the next IRT meeting #26b on Tuesday, 6 February. Please see: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1w3_kYNYcEjXin5D1O9x4hxcpYJr7JqlY/edit?u… (this will also be posted to the wiki on Monday, 5 February). Please note that remaining bracketed or placeholder text throughout the ASP Handbook is color-coded (see p. 2). In addition, ICANN org has continued to work on-list with ASP IRT members to propose updated language on some of those bracketed highlighted areas. As such, you may see a few spots with remaining suggested text and comments to the ASP IRT regarding those suggested changes. We hope to resolve those suggestions in advance of the IRT plenary session on 6 February. As noted during IRT meeting #26a, ICANN org kindly requests plenary IRT members to liaise with their counterparts in the IRT ASP Sub-Track<https://community.icann.org/x/LIBME> to understand the work done to date, and to discuss any questions or concerns you or your constituencies may have through the IRT ASP Sub-Track members members.
