Hello everyone, At the last NARALO call there was a brief discussion on where and who might want to bid for a city to host ICANN the next time its meeting schedule passes through North America. The currently proposed date for the next NA meeting is March 2011. This date IMO eliminates a substantial part of North America from reasonably being able to submit a bid on climate grounds. During the call the meeting Seth agreed to investigate the suitability of Honolulu for the 2011 meeting, and I can certainly agree that it would be a great global destination in March. However once I received the notice below it seems there may be a window through which we can suggest to make the North American meeting the June one. That would make other centres of interest eligible (Boston, Toronto, Montreal). What do you think? Should NARALO send a response (and/or ask for ALAC's endorsement) to make the 2011 North American meeting the one in June? The NCUC is a Constituency within the current GNSO. Its members will become members (directly or indirectly) of the new Non-Commercial Stakeholders Group (NCSG) and (according to the NCUC), the NCUC will cease to exist. There is a reasonable chance that the Board may approve one or more full Board members to be selected (using an as-yet undefined mechanism) by At-large/ALAC, presumably to replace the current Liaison position. This year's selection of a Board Liaison is being used as a model (or test, if you wish) for one of the possible ways that has been suggested of identifying possible candidates. Or at least, that is my understanding of the paragraph. Is that any clearer? Please note that I have no posting rights to many of the lists being copied. Hi all, Please see below for the announcement that has just come through the Secretariats list. We will soon need to send in a list of "nominees" for the Board Liaison position. Wendy has confirmed that she is still willing to act. Other names on the table internationally (in no particular order) are: Carlton Samuels Hong Xue Wolf Ludwig IMHO, any of these people would be great as board liaisons. So, we need to agree as a group which we would like to put forward. From the wording below, it sounds like we could send in more than one nominee. What does everybody think? I just wanted to put in consideration to this an idea (before making a formal proposal myself), regarding the new ALAC Liason at the Board Election. I know that now there had been candidates showing their willness to be selected as Liason at the Board. My vision, that I wanted to check with all of you, intends to support a candidate to be Board Liason who is involved in the Ralo-ALSs process, or comes from here, if possible. The main reason is about a "specific representation" or a more direct way between Individual Users and the board. The dynamic I propose is to discuss between the RALO leaders in order to instruct our 10 representatives in ALAC to support a candidate emerging from the RALO process or involved somehow with us. So, we should come, if this idea sounds good for all of you, with some names. If you ask me right now, Carlton, Hong and Wolf could be some interesting names. But I don´t even know if they would be interested.
