Dear NARALO members: I graciously accept my nomination for Chair, and I hope my strength and commitment to the region are a testament to my faithfulness and ability in helping move NARALO forward. In the past two years we have been focused in engagement, education and policy awareness and contributions. We have had many achievements, among which are the first North American School of Internet Governance (NASIG 2018) held in in Puerto Rico, followed by another one in Quebec in 2019. We have also able to use most of our time during our monthly meeting on educating our membership in ICANN current issues. In the past two years we had 24 monthly meetings, 7 snippet webinars, celebrated NARALO’s 10th anniversary and increased our membership by 15% (at a rate of 7% a year). Looking forward, I propose that we focus in four major areas: [1] *Policy*: Establish a working framework to increase regional participation in policy development through policy discussions in NARALO and participation in the Consolidated Policy Working Group (CPWG) and others spaces as necessary , [2] *Outreach & Engagement*: Advance our O&E strategic plans and support the 2021 and 2022 North American Schools of Internet Governance (NASIG 2021 &NASIG 2022), [3] *Education*: Continue to provide snippet webinars to maintain the region informed of issues and policies related that affect the stability and security of the global Internet's systems of unique identifiers and coordinate NASIG 2021 & 2022 [4]*Membership*: Coordinate the 2021 NARALO General Assembly. Maintain and/or increase our membership roll by a rate of 7% increase. Hi All We are providing to the NARALO membership a first look at one aspect of the NARALO Capacity Building Survey We have identified 5 topics which seem to have the greatest interest based upon the survey results - Internet Governance - 80% - Transparency and Accountability - 66.7% - Cybersecurity - 56.7% - DNS Abuse - 53% - Multistakeholderism - 53% A full report will be made at the NARALO monthly meeting on May 11th Our group discussed the various names associated with each topic and came up with these names ad leads in YELLOW as possible leads. All names were a result of the survey results. To understand these, we have prepared the following survey to do that. The survey is divided in four sections: The first section is all about who is answering the survey. Here we want to know your name, how to best contact you, and if you are part of an ALS. The next section is to know what your interests are within the coordination of the global Internet’s systems of unique identifiers. We have compiled a list of the topics that are of major interest within ICANN at the moment. But we also have an open question, to let us know other topics that may be of interest to you. Then, we want to know what areas you care enough about that you would be willing to put in some time and effort working on them. The idea is to get a sense of what topics really motivate you. This will help in knowing who we should contact when we get to the point of looking for volunteers to work on specific topics. It is important to know that, by answering this part, you are not being committed to anything. And finally, we want to know where you might be a resource. But it is also crucial to ensure that the voice of end users flows up through the RALOs and into At Large responses to policy and administrative issues. In order for this to happen, information about ICANN decisions and processes must also flow down to end users in ways that are accessible. I've invited you to fill out the following form: NARALO Member Interest & Capacity Survey To fill it out, visit: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc-FGcdJXGWEwEwYleD9vv1TpppGLaSXwM… NARALO is here to represent your interests and concerns in ICANN with regards to the coordination of the global Internet's systems of unique identifiers. To understand these, we have prepared the following survey to do that. The survey is divided in four sections: The first section is all about who is answering the survey. Here we want to know your name, how to best contact you, and if you are part of an ALS. The next section is to know what your interests are within the coordination of the global Internet’s systems of unique identifiers. We have compiled a list of the topics that are of major interest within ICANN at the moment. But we also have an open question, to let us know other topics that may be of interest to you. Then, we want to know what areas you care enough about that you would be willing to put in some time and effort working on them. The idea is to get a sense of what topics really motivate you. This will help in knowing who we should contact when we get to the point of looking for volunteers to work on specific topics. It is important to know that, by answering this part, you are not being committed to anything. And finally, we want to know where you might be a resource. Even if you do not have the time or energy to be part of a working group on a topic, you may know enough about it to offer a few insights to those who are. Please allow 10 minutes for the survey.
