The ALAC Finance and Budget Sub-Committee will review all At-Large ABR proposals during the week of 6 January 2020. Dear All, This message is being sent on behalf of Yrjö Länsipuro, the Chair of the Board Candidate Evaluation Committee (BCEC) and Alan Greenberg, Chair of the Board Member Selection Process Committee (BMSPC). From BCEC Chair: The BCEC received only one Expression of Interest for position of Board Member selected by At-Large (ICANN Board Seat 15) for the three year term beginning at the conclusion of ICANN69 scheduled to be held in Hamburg in October 2020. The BCEC confirmed that the applicant is an excellent candidate, and in accordance with its responsibilities under ALAC Rules of Procedure (RoP), places the name of León Sánchez on the BCEC Slate of Candidates for Seat 15. From the BMSPC Chair: The ALAC RoP allow RALOs to petition to add additional candidates to the BCEC Slate of Candidates. In this case, there were no additional EoIs submitted, so no petition process is possible. The ALAC RoP 19.11.2 reads: "If there is only one candidate on the Final Candidate List, that candidate will be acclaimed the winner." Background Seat number 15 of the ICANN Board of Directors is dedicated to a member selected by the At-Large community. This seat is currently occupied by León Sánchez, who assumed the position at the end of ICANN60 (2017 AGM). His 3-year term will be completed at the closing of ICANN69 (2020 AGM), and he will be eligible for re-appointment. Pursuant to Section 19 of the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) Rules of Procedure<https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/Rules+of+Procedure?preview=/226…> (RoP), the At-Large community began the selection process for the next Board Director in September 2019, with the appointment of the Chairs and Members of the BCEC and the Board Member Selection Process Committee (BMSPC). The BCEC is responsible for outlining candidate requirements and expectations, calling for, identifying, and evaluating applications, and compiling the initial slate of candidates. The BMSPC oversees the entire selection process, including the development of the selection timeline and the election process. Both groups have regionally balanced membership and operate in accordance with a strict code of conduct and confidentiality where applicable.
