Over the last few weeks my wife and I have been working hard to get a local homeless man permanent housing – which as you can imagine is hard to find here in Washington. We have gone through the government channels, identified a place and he is slated to move in we hope within the week, but its also a stressful time as things get finalized. Spent a good bit of time last night focused on getting him sorted for the night when he showed up on our doorstep at 10PM. Was working on my app then and thought I’d sent it but appears not. Anyway, I know people take deadlines seriously – and I should have not waited until the last day to send – but in this instance I was focused on the thing that I think all would agree was the right priority. Selection of the Chair/Vice-Chair(s) -- Rafik is acting as temporary Chair until leadership is appointed (Rafik is ex-officio member from the Council Leadership) -- SSC will need a Chair for the coming year, as well as a Vice-Chair -- Carlton has volunteered as Vice-Chair -- Julf may be willing to step forward for Chair role ACTION ITEM: Staff will follow up on mailing list regarding volunteers for leadership of the SSC for the coming year. 3. Dear SSC members, Welcome to those of you who are new to the SSC and welcome back to those who are staying on for another year. Now that most SG/Cs have confirmed their members for the coming year, we would like to set up a meeting with all of you next week to discuss a few items. First, you will need to select a Chair and Vice-Chair(s) for the coming year.
