Dear SSC Members, Please find below the high-level notes and action items from today’s SSC meeting on Wednesday, 20 August at 20:00 UTC. Thank you. Best regards, Saewon SSC Meeting on Wednesday, 20 August 2025 at 20:00 UTC 1.⁠ ⁠Welcome & SOIs * Beth Marty joined as a temporary member from the RrSG to aid the process due to a conflict of interest. 2.⁠ GNSO Members for the Review of Reviews Cross Community Group (RoR CCG) Candidates Evaluation * GNSO Council requested at the Council meeting that 1 of the 2 members should be a sitting GNSO Councilor. * The survey opened 12 August and closed 18 August with 8 responses (higher than usual) with one response after the deadline (should not affect final decision) as survey does not determine the outcome. a. Review of Survey Results * Survey results were shared via email prior to the meeting and can also be accessed via the wiki page: https://icann-community.atlassian.net/wiki/x/AQAEG * 5 Candidates with 3 Councilors and 2 non-Councilors: Sophie Hey ranked overall number 1, 2 being Osvaldo Novoa, and 3 being Lawrence Olawale-Roberts. * Responses: All files can be reviewed from the wiki page for a more detailed response. Both Councilors are seen as strong candidates. b. Discussion and Selection of Candidates * Sophie Hey was confirmed as the first selection. * Discussion continued for the remaining seat (for a serving Councilor) between Osvaldo and Lawrence—Votes were evenly split for each candidate: 3 votes for Osvaldo, 3 votes for Lawrence. In the end, an additional member voted for Osvaldo, which brought the total votes in closer alignment with the survey result. * Osvaldo Navoa was confirmed as the second selection. 3.⁠ ⁠Next Steps - Timing of Consensus Call & GNSO Council Confirmation * Staff discussed next steps on the calendar linked here: https://icann-community.atlassian.net/wiki/x/W4AdG * Council will be confirming selections at the September Council meeting. 4.⁠ ⁠AOB * A question was raised whether there are any foreseeable duties for the SSC. Noted that there are none foreseen at this time. Dear SSC Members, Please find attached the survey results for SSC’s upcoming selection process – GNSO’s nomination of the RoR CCG Members (2): * Tha “Data_All” file presents the ranking in p.7, where I have marked in yellow the overall rankings and in blue the Councilor rankings (only the top 3 and 2) * As always, the “Responses_All” file presents individual responses with comments to provide a bit more context for the discussions/selection process and like last time, the individual responders have been redacted. A few things to note from the survey result: * Though the rankings indicate the winner(s), the detailed result—specifically the responses within the “Councilor” section—may be subject to discussion. * While we received 8 responses, 1 submission came in after the deadline (as I had closed the poll later). This is shared for your reference only and should not affect the final decision, as the survey itself does not determine the outcome. * Once again, please note that the survey results are intended to support discussion, and the final decision may be adjusted following tomorrow’s meeting. Review of Survey Results * Survey results were shared via email prior to this meeting and can also be downloaded via the wiki page: https://icann-community.atlassian.net/wiki/x/NIBWEg * Survey recently closed after being open for one week (21 July – 28 July) opened on 21 July and closed on 28 July – was open for 1 week * For this nomination, there were three candidates: Hago Elteraifi Mohamed Dafalla, John Gbadamosi, and Anil Jain * The rankings from the survey were as follows: (1) John Gbadamosi (2) Anil Jain (3) Hago Elteraifi Mohamed Dafalla * As a reminder, the rankings are used as a discussion guide to support the decision-making process and are not decisive. * John Gbadamosi is currently serving the CSC as the non-registry alternate. * Anil Jain’s CV was received after the poll opened but is now available. Those who completed the survey early may have noted that this was missing. * The CSC could choose two candidates – one as a non-registry liaison and one alternate. * These appointments are both optional (but recommended); however, neither appointment is mandatory. b. Discussion and Selection of Candidates * No objections to submitting John Gbadamosi as the Non-Registry Liaison to the CSC. * CSC notes support for appointing an alternate. * CSC support for Anil Jain as the non-registry alternate to the CSC. 3.⁠ ⁠Next Steps - Timing of Consensus Call & GNSO Council Confirmation * ACTION: Support Staff to send consensus call with John Gbadamosi as the choice for non-registry liaison and Anil Jain as choice for the alternate. [COMPLETE] * Timeline – With the decision today, Support Staff to send consensus call for 48 hours following this meeting. Consensus call to close 1 August 2025. * If no objections, the confirmed candidates will be sent to both the CSC support team for their information and the GNSO Council for their confirmation during the consent agenda portion of their 14 August meeting. * Terms of these new CSC roles will begin on 1 October. * Upcoming Review of Reviews Work * The Review of Reviews work is ongoing, and there will soon be a need to select two members from the GNSO to serve on the Review of Reviews Cross Community Group. * Further details will be sent as they become available, but the selection process of the GNSO representatives will be done by the SSC. The candidates do not need to be GNSO Councilors but could be GNSO Community members. * Leadership and staff support believe it prudent to schedule a placeholder meeting to select candidates. * Tentatively, we have identified 19 August so that the SSC can confirm and select candidates by 22 August. * ACTION: Support Staff to send a Doodle Poll to identify a time. 4.⁠ ⁠AOB

Dear SSC members, As a follow-up to today’s call, the SSC has reached preliminary agreement to recommend John Gbadamosi as the GNSO-Appointed Non-Registry Liaison to the Customer Standing Committee (CSC) and Anil Jain as the Alternate Liaison. (See the candidate materials here<https://icann-community.atlassian.net/wiki/x/NIBWEg>). If you object to this recommendation, please respond on the mailing list no later than Friday, 1 August 2025 at 21:00 UTC. If no objections are received, the SSC will consider this to be a Full Consensus recommendation and submit it to ICANN org by 1 August 2025 and the GNSO Council by 4 August 2025 with a motion for confirmation at its meeting on 14 August 2025.
