See next step. Step 2 - There are two ways to import your schedule into Outlook: once you’ve added all your chosen meetings to “My Schedule” go to Export. 1. Importing creates a one-time snapshot of your schedule and copies it into Outlook. If you subsequently make changes to your Pathable calendar, they will not be reflected in Outlook. 2. Subscribing creates a live feed of your schedule in Outlook. Continue review of response by Board Liaisons * As discussed during the last meeting, there will be a need for the CCWG to review the input that has been provided by the Board Liaisons at the request of the CCWG. * Leadership team welcomes these comments. Suggestion: first have a look at the input provided, and see if the CCWG can address the comments. * Comments refer to: * preamble. to be taken up at a much later stage in time. This is more an implementation matter. Suggestion: include a genral recommendation in the initial report, that guidance is to be provided on what is within ICANN's mission. Details to be worked out by the implementation team. * examples provided. Some work could already be done to generalise the examples. prioritisation might become easier once the CCWG has decided upon a model. park it for now, but make an update in terms of generalising examples. Give examples for projects that are not eligible, or not a priority. Leadership team does not believe that the CCWG would want to be told what to do, so maybe we can first have a look at the input provided and see if there is a way for the CCWG to address the comments. If more details are needed, we can always go back and ask. * Ching suggesting for the examples to be taken back to SO/ACs, so that you end up with concrete comments and suggestions, based on the examples. model whereby SO/ACs would define / set priorities which are then factored in by independent evaluators as they review projects. * interpretation of leadership makes sense according to Maarten Botterman. The letter was intended as feedback, no advice on what to do. Communication around the example projects is important. They are just examples., nothing else. action item #3: the group is invited to review the examples and suggest edits. Confirm next steps & next meeting ICANN61 - Sunday 11 March from 17.00 – 18.30 local time * focus will be on discussing with the experts (Sam, Xavier). invitation also extended to Nominet and SIDN. * Community Update scheduled for Thursday in san Juan. Suggestion to postpone that session to ICANN62. Hope was for the CCWG to be further in its deliberations. As we do not have any specific questions or issues for community input at this stage, there may not be any value in providing the community with an update that is similar to the one provided at ICANN60 and which can also be provided in the form of our regular newsletter as well as the GNSO Policy Briefings. The idea would be to then instead start thinking ahead to ICANN62 and work on a well-planned and thought out session that would be focused on getting community input on some of the critical questions that the CCWG will be dealing with at this stage. * re-purpose the Thursday session to a face-to-face meeting? Disadvantage: several other meetings already scheduled against it. Suggestion not to cancel the meeting yet. See whether there is sufficient participation for the meeting. Dear All - I will not be able to chair the call tomorrow. my office booked me on a flight that clashes with our call and unfortunately we can't change this anymore. The second flight is fully booked and I have no other option. Apologies for this! I hope that Ching is able to chair the call tomorrow. He should be back from the Chinese New Year festivals but I have not heard back from him. *Few points I like to raise that may help you in guiding our discussions in a good direction:* *A) Preamble text: * I like to recommend to put this topic on hold. I see this as a topic that can be better discussed at the next CCWG AP implementation phase. The idea to have a preamble evolved relatively early when we started as a group thinking about the need to provide future project evaluators with guidance about how to evaluate projects that do not fall within a narrow understanding of ICANNs mission but are still supporting ICANNs mission. For these particular cases we thought that a preamble might help future evaluators to judge such projects better. The idea of the preamble was not to broaden the understanding of the scope of ICANNs Mission but to allow projects that are worthwhile and are supporting ICANN's mission to be evaluated*.* Without such a provision some of us feared that truly worthwhile projects could not even be evaluated and potentially supported. We heard concerns about the current draft preamble text at our meeting in Abu Dhabi, ICANNs Board is raising concerns as well, therefore I recommend to put this topic on hold and let it be reviewed during the next implementation phase of the CCWG AP. Such a preamble is not needed for our current work but is well needed before the final project phase starts. *B) Letter to the Board:* If you agree with Point A) then I recommend we explain this point to the Board in the letter we will have to send to the Board in the near future. Concerning their concern in relation to the list of example to test against ICANN's Mission, I believe, we largely can accept their recommendations - though I believe a negative list is not going to be helpful and only cost additional tine and effort. If you agree then I recommend the leadership will draft a draft reply to the Board, a reply you will be able to review and to change. Apologies again and have a good call tomorrow! Erika

I totally agree with Judith on this one. I am concerned about the lack of understanding from the board about the importance of the preamble. Having a framework is key, it might be an imperfect one (as it is acknowledged on the text) but we need to start somewhere. I really hope that the board can provide more concrete input to improve the preamble/framework instead of discard it as the point of entrance for any applicants to assess if they might be eligible or not, if they can explain how their work is aligned with the overall objectives that the fund seeks to support so that they can commit the time and effort to prepare and submit a grant proposal. I am also concerned about their comments regarding some of the examples. Some of those examples are exactly how ICANN can support work that is aligned with its mission, but that it is not part of its own budget/work. It seems to me like there is a confusion on their side about ICANN’s very own budget and activities and those that other organizations could do, through projects funded with the auction proceeds. Other organizations have their own objectives and priorities. They apply for funding to organizations that have their own priorities and together, they set to achieve some proposed/agreed outcomes. In all my 23 years of experience with Internet for development granting, I have never encounter donors that expect that a grantee agrees 100% with them or contributes to all the objectives of the giving organization/program. It is a matter of alignment, finding common ground, agreeing in principle about how the outcomes will benefit both to achieve their mission. When I read the letter, it looks to me as if the board where considering consultancy agreements, not projects from other organizations. It is a very different relationship. Anyway, I look forward to further comments from the group to see how to move forward. Although it is still the work of the group to provide its own guidelines for the uses of the fund, with reference to the issue of the group's intent to support ICANN's vision of an "interoperable internet", I believe we would greatly benefit from more concrete advice from the Board about how we might be able achieve the intent of this direction, in order to pass on to potential applicants about how they might more appropriately use the funds to support this important ICANN purpose.
