Chair / ViceChair election

All, at the meeting yesterday we agreed to elect a Chair and ViceChair by E-Mail voting. There are 3 candidates for either position: Avri, Philip and myself. My proposal for a (simple) election process: 1. all members (primes + alternates) shall have 1 vote; staff not included; makes 13 votes at the time being 2. Vote first for Chair; after Chair election vote for ViceChair 3. Chair election - simple majority vote - in case of a tie a 2nd round should decide by majority vote between the two tied 4. ViceChair election - between the 2 candidates left - simple majority vote Question: since this is a "Standing" committee which is supposed to exist on a longer term mshould we limit the Chair and ViceChair term? E.g. 2 years term with the eligibility for future terms. Glen may serve as the election "manager". Please comment. After having reached an agreement we should start the election. SCI 1st meeting

All, The following is a short summary of the 1st SCI meeting: Time: 01 June, 18:00 - 19:00 UTC 1. Statements of Interest (SOI): it was agreed to use the online process recently developed by staff. Julie will inform the team once the wiki access rights are established. 2. Team organization: the WG guidelines recommend that a liaison to the chartering organisation (GNSO council) may be established which plays a "neutral" role. It was discussed whether this role could be taken by the SCI chair or another member in order to avoid potential conflict of interest. It was suggested to establish an informal link to the Board Structural Improvements Committee (SIC) which oversees the entire ICANN improvements activities. The chair shall contact the SIC once the working program is set up. 3. Chair / ViceChair election 3 candidates for either position: Avri, Philip, Wolf-Ulrich It was agreed to vote by E-Mail Note: An election process proposal was separately sent out for comments. 4. Regarding the working program the following points were made: - What and where are the trigger points for bringing the team to activity? - Voices were raised in favour of working in a reactive manner - a standardized way to "raise an issue" with respect to the rec's in scope should be established - conversation with WGs having finished their work should be carried out to find out benefits and malfunctions in the related processes - more detailed implementation status of the rec's in scope required - Chair and VC once elected should come up with a proposal for the work program The next meeting will take place at the ICANN meeting in Singapore. Reminder: ICANN Community Wiki is now fully operational! Effective June 1st 2011 the ICANN Socialtext wiki is being retired. All of the original data has been successfully migrated to the new Community Wiki, which is located at http://community.icann.org. Please be sure to update all of your Bookmarks or Favorites to reflect the new Community Wiki! ICANN will continue to maintain the system online till 30th June 2011, after which time a backup will be retained in case of an emergency. In order to ensure that this has been a smooth transition, we have been working closely with the various SO/AC groups and Policy Staff in strategizing a rollout plan. This involved setting up the new workspaces, migrating the data and any attendant clean-up required of the data or structure within a given workspace. (We thank these teams for all of their time and support on this effort!) In addition to the individual SO/AC workspaces, there are: 1. Board Resolutions Tab 2. Projects Tab - (Project workspaces can be created on request) 3. Help Tab - (contains training guides and offers advice on how to obtain assistance) Like before, during the Singapore Meeting next month we are also offering training on the new workspaces on the basic tools needed to navigate the Community Wiki.
