Dear All, Steve Sheng, ICANN Senior Technical Analyst within the Policy Department, will talk about the currently open public consultation on the Interim Report of the Internationalized Registration Data Working Group<http://icann.org/en/public-comment/#ird> in an At-Large community briefing call. In June 2009 the ICANN Board approved a resolution (2009.06.26.18: <http://www.icann.org/en/minutes/resolutions-26jun09.htm#6>) requesting that the GNSO and the SSAC, in consultation with staff, convene an Internationalized Registration Data Working Group (IRD-WG) comprised of individuals with knowledge, expertise, and experience in these areas to study the feasibility and suitability of introducing display specifications to deal with the internationalization of registration data. The working group has produced an interim report that discusses several potential models for internationalizing domain registration data, and is seeking feedback from the community about the models and on other key questions via a public consultation that is open until 14 March 2011. During this call, participants will be able to engage in a discussion of the Interim Report of the Internationalized Registration Data Working Group with Steve and At-Large representatives on the IRD-WG. WHOIS Technical Requirements Survey Webinar 23 May 2012 Please note this webinar will be held in ENGLISH only. The Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) Council's WHOIS Survey Working Group (WSWG) requests community input on a draft WHOIS Technical Requirements Survey, to assess the content of the survey before releasing it for public solicitation. In parallel with the Public Comment period, the Working Group is hosting two webinar sessions to brief the community on the background of this effort and to solicit input from experts on technical requirements for a new WHOIS protocol, in particular people knowledgeable about technical aspects of WHOIS who can help assess if the survey asks the right questions and in the right style to elicit useful and clear technical feedback. The Working Group seeks specific suggestions on changes to language and questions that will make it clearer for experts to complete.
