ALAC filing a Rejection Action Petition Notice “Standard Bylaw Amendment Adding a Transition Article to the ICANN Bylaws”

Dear At-Large Community, This is a notice on the ALAC results of the vote on the rejection action. Per the ALAC Rules of Procedure, 24.2: “ All such decisions including those related to Director removal shall be taken by a non-secret vote, unless extraordinary circumstances warrant a secret vote. The decision to use a secret ballot must be a formal decision of the ALAC in accordance with the processes in Paragraph 12.” Summary: * 10 Votes “Yes” * 2 Votes “No” * 1 “Abstain” – No abstention rational submitted * 2 Voters did not vote Please find attached the vote results as exported from the eBallot platform. DNS Abuse mitigation remains as a key focus area for the ALAC and At-Large community. It is generally accepted that DNS Abuse cannot be eliminated. However, it is also clear that it can be mitigated, and such mitigation efforts may take many forms and are often driven by various parties either working collaboratively or complementarily to bring about impact to protect end users against harm perpetrated by malicious domain name registrations. In prior meetings with the Security, Stability, and Resiliency team under the ICANN Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO-SSR)*, the At-Large learned about the OCTO-SSR’s scope, research and tools in DNS Abuse mitigation. At this webinar, the ALAC and At-Large community will hear from ICANN Contractual Compliance and the NetBeacon Institute to understand their respective roles and work in support of DNS Abuse mitigation. It is aimed at informing a discussion on what efforts the ALAC and At-Large community should focus on in this area.
