The CWG and CCWG leaders coordinated the location, agreeing that holding their respective two-day meetings consecutively was the best way to apply resources and manage joint efforts. These decisive meetings are scheduled to help reinforce each group's respective project plans and timelines, both anticipating drafts for public comment in April. Following the Call for Generation Panels to Develop Root Zone Label Generation Rules<https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-2013-07-11-en>, on 6 February 2015 the Japanese community submitted to ICANN the Proposal for Generation Panel for Japanese Label Generation Rules for the Root Zone<https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/japanese-lgr-proposal-17mar15-e…> [PDF, 223 KB]. ICANN staff has reviewed the proposal including panel composition and scope, to ensure that requirements set forth in the LGR Procedure<https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/lgr-procedure-20mar13-en.pdf> [PDF, 772 KB], and in particular the criteria set forth in the Call for Generation Panels to Develop Root Zone Label Generation Rules<https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-2013-07-11-en>, are fulfilled. On behalf of ICANN, we would like to use this opportunity to thank each of the members for offering their time and expertise to volunteer for the Japanese Generation Panel. With composition and work plan approved, the Japanese Generation Panel will start its work on the label generation rules. According to the LGR Procedure<https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/lgr-procedure-20mar13-en.pdf> [PDF, 772 KB], the starting point of any Generation Panel's work is the Maximal Starting Repertoire (MSR), with its first version (MSR-1<https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-2-2014-06-20-en>) released on 20 June 2014 and the second version (MSR-2<https://www.icann.org/public-comments/msr-2014-12-15-en>) currently released for community review. A successful development of the Root Zone LGR depends on having Generation Panels for each script represented in the Root Zone. The IDN tables submitted by the new gTLD registries varied in the repertoire of characters, variant and contextual rules, and format. On the request of the community, to facilitate and improve consistency of testing and stability of registry operations of new gTLDs, ICANN intends to develop reference IDN tables in machine readable format, called Label Generation Rulesets (LGRs) for the second level, for use in PDT and the Registry Service Evaluation Process (RSEP). ICANN is suggesting a process to ensure both linguistic and technical expert input and community review of these tables being developed. The nomination period has been extended and will close on 20 March 2015. This award program seeks to recognize long-standing community members who have served in leadership roles in multiple ICANN working groups or committees and demonstrated collaboration with different supporting organizations and/or advisory committees. The Multistakeholder Ethos Award recognizes ICANN participants who have deeply invested in consensus-based solutions, recognized the importance of ICANN's multistakeholder model of Internet governance, and contributed in a substantive way to the higher interests of ICANN's organization and its community. A panel of community members has convened to help review all community nominations and determine the best candidate(s) for the award. The decisions of the selection panel will be made based on the following criteria: 1. Demonstrated multistakeholder volunteer service via working groups or committees. 2. Demonstrated spirit of collaboration through engagement with other community members with the aim of consensus building. 3. Demonstrated facilitator of dialogue and open discussion in a fair, cordial and collegial manner. 4. Demonstrated additional devotional factors exhibited by time spent supporting ICANN's multistakeholder model and its overall effectiveness. Candidates for the award will demonstrate at least five years of participation in the ICANN Community. The nomination period for community nominees will close on 20 March 2015. Community members interested in submitting a nomination are invited to send an email toethosaward2015(a)icann.org including: * Name of nominee. * Community of nominee. * Reasons for nomination.
