This is a suggested step that addresses community feedback received in the past and addresses ATRT2 recommendations (#12.1 and #12.5). Each call will be public, focused on each organization that submitted comments, and will be attended by at least 1 Board Finance Committee member. Additional board members may attend based on availability. The Staff and Board members attending will primarily LISTEN and ASK clarifying questions as needed. Responses to public comments will not be provided during these calls, unless the comments are factual with a very specific and simple answer. A schedule of the calls is listed below. Following the opening of the public comment proceeding, the CWG-Stewardship Chairs hosted two briefing webinars on 24 April<https://community.icann.org/x/ryYnAw>. The briefing webinars on 24 April focused on the CWG-Stewardship work process, development of the 2nd draft proposal, and provided an overview of the contents and proposed structural model. The CWG-Stewardship Chairs will now host a follow-up series of webinars to brief interested community members on the content of the 2nd draft proposal, and to respond to questions that have surfaced since the briefings on 24 April. These two webinars may help further inform community submissions in time for the close of the public comment period on 20 May. This report for public comment represents the current work product of the CCWG-Accountability. It is focused on draft Work Stream 1 recommendations (Work Stream 1 is the CCWG-Accountability's work on changes to ICANN's accountability arrangements which must be in place, or committed to, prior to the IANA Stewardship transition), which were the focus of the first five months of work (from December 2014 until May 2015). These recommendations are not presented as the consensus of the CCWG-Accountability at this point. The CCWG-Accountability is seeking confirmation of its approach and guidance upon several options. Dear At-Large Members, The 2nd Draft Proposal of the IANA Stewardship Transition Naming Related Functions is now seeking comments. Its public comment period<https://www.icann.org/public-comments/cwg-stewardship-draft-proposal-2015-0…> will close in 16 days (20 May 2015). You may read the 2nd Draft Proposal in two forms as follow: *Short form (without annexes): https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/cwg-stewardship-draft-proposal-… *Long form (with annexes): https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/cwg-stewardship-draft-proposal-… As the IANA Stewardship Transition is a critical issue that will greatly affect end users worldwide, the ALAC will submit a Statement on the 2nd Draft Proposal. While identifying issues to comment about, the ALAC wants to hear from our individual ALSes and unaffiliated members across the five RALOs to gather input internally. To provide your input, please use the template in the Word document or the PDF document attached. This template provides you the opportunities to write down general input on the proposal, as well as specific input per section. Please also note that there is no obligation to provide input on all sections. Details of the successful evaluation are provided here: http://www.icann.org/en/resources/idn/fast-track/string-evaluation-completi…<https://www.icann.org/en/resources/idn/fast-track/string-evaluation-complet…> The Internationalized Domain Name (IDN) ccTLD Fast Track Process was approved by the ICANN Board at its annual meeting in Seoul, South Korea on 30 October 2009. First requests were received starting 16 November 2009. The process enables countries and territories to submit requests to ICANN for IDN ccTLDs, representing their respective country or territory names in scripts other than Latin. IDN ccTLD requesters must fulfill a number of requirements: * the script used to represent the IDN ccTLDs must be non-Latin; * the languages used to express the IDN ccTLDs must be official in the corresponding country or territory; and * a specific set of technical requirements must be met. The request and evaluation processes entail three steps: * Preparation (by the requester in the country / territory): Community consensus is built for which IDN ccTLD to apply for, how it is run, and which organization will be running it, along with preparing and gathering all the required supporting documentation. Requests are submitted through an online system together with additional material supporting the process at http://forms.icann.org/idn/apply.php * String Evaluation: Requests are evaluated in accordance with the technical and linguistic requirements for the IDN ccTLD string(s) criteria described above. * String Delegation: Requests successfully meeting string evaluation criteria are eligible to apply for delegation following the same ICANN IANA process as is used for ASCII based ccTLDs. Requesters submit string delegation requests to IANA root zone management: root-mgmt(a)iana.org<mailto:root-mgmt@iana.org>. With this announcement, requests from a total of 37 countries/territories have successfully passed through the String Evaluation stage. Of these, 29 countries/territories (represented by 39 IDN ccTLDs) are delegated in the DNS root zone, with the remainder either readying to apply, or actively applying for delegation of the string. Up-to-date information about the IDN Fast Track Program will continue to be provided on the Fast Track Process web page at https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/fast-track-2012-02-25-en. ICANN looks forward to enabling the availability of non-Latin country-code domains for countries that meet the Fast Track Process requirements. ICANN will continue to accept new string evaluation requests in the Fast Track Process.
